I was curious . . .

Written by Mike on February 13th, 2005

After seeing the results of the Family Guy quiz I thought it might be interesting if all of the people who contribute to this blog took a political quiz to see where they ended up on the spectrum. I like this one the best. I ended up with a 36, more conservative than Bole Dole (like that is saying anything) but less so than Reagan. I doubt anyone on this blog ends up with a score of less than 30.

    How To Assign Points:
    *********************

    1. “Trust” - 0 points.
    “Distrust” gets 2 points.
The major difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals tend to trust
    government while conservatives do not.

    2. Any of the following gets 1 point (for a maximum of 5 points):
    The Pentagon
    The executive branch
    The FBI
    The CIA
    The Joint Chiefs

Any of the following gets 0 points:
    The U.S. Postal Service
    The legislative branch
    The I.R.S.
    The Peace Corps
    The United Nations

Liberals would pick the U.S. Postal Service, the I.R.S., the Peace Corps, the United Nations,
and the legislative branch because they tend to believe in these institutions.

    3. Any of the following gets 1 point (for a maximum of 3 points):
    Doctors
    Business Executives
    Team Owners

    These answers score 0 points:
    Trial Lawyers
    Union Leaders
    Professional Athletes

Liberals favor trial lawyers over doctors, and workers over executives because they tend to
distrust businessmen and favor their workers and advocates.

    4. Give yourself 1 point on this question ONLY if you answered “none”. All other answers: 0

    5. Give yourself 1 point for every answer (for a maximum of 9), EXCEPT “Cut defense spending”
and “Don’t cut at all”, which score 0.

    6. “Term limits” - 1 point
    “Public Financing” - 0

    7. “Ronald Reagan” - 1 point
    “Franklin D. Roosevelt” - 0

    8. “Melting Pot” - 1 point
    “Multicultural society” - 0

    9. “Elders” - 1 point
    “Robertson” - 0
    “Neither” - 0

    10. “Stricter controls” - 0 points

    “Both” - 0

    11. “Build prisons” - 1 point

    17. “Agree” - 0 “Disagree” - 1

    18. “Agree” - 0 “Disagree” - 1

    19. “Agree” - 0 “Disagree” - 1

    20. “Agree” - 1 “Disagree” - 0

    21. “Agree” - 0 “Disagree” - 1

    22. “Agree” - 0 “Disagree” - 1

    23. “Agree” - 1 “Disagree” - 0

    24. “Agree” - 0 “Disagree” - 1

    25. “Agree” - 0 “Disagree” - 1

    About your score:
    *****************

Respondents with the most points (40) are 100 percent conservative; those with the least
    (0) are 100 percent liberal.

Take note: A higher number of points is not meant to imply a higher level of political
consciousness! The system of accumulating points for conservative answers is simply a
practical method for assigning politically left-to-right slots on the spectrum.
