Well welcome to the titanic battle of 2005…. Howard Dean’s Democracy for American versus Ahhhhnold, the Governator.
A really good San Fransisco Gate article on it is available here.
A liberal grassroots network that helped fuel Howard Dean’s maverick run for president is crackling back to life to fight Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ballot initiative drive, another sign that the governor’s plans for a special election this year could produce a costly and fiercely partisan battle.
California for Democracy, the state arm of a national group that raised millions of dollars for Dean over the Internet, is planning a high-tech campaign targeting the Republican governor, who wraps up an out-of-state fund- raising tour in Washington today.
I just have to laugh at how these SF Gate people fawn over the “liberal high tech” machine that well has lost every election it has been heavily involved in. These people don’t get internet campaigning… but I digress.
In addition to the new effort by California for Democracy, a committee comprised mostly of labor unions representing teachers, nurses, firefighters and police has formed to combat Schwarzenegger. The group is expected to announce soon which ballot initiatives it will support and begin fund-raising.
What… Unions…. grassroots…. what, I am shocked ::sarcasm off::

As Supreme Chancellor of Save The GOP,
I am alarmed by the noise of the Southern bloggers concerning the matter of secession from this Union of United Bloggers. I am order the calling up of an army of 70,000 good union men in order to put down this rebellion. I have appointed Gen. Alexander to lead the army, and under his command will be Gen. McCormack and the other union sympathetic members, who wish not to tear assunder the blog nation their forefathers worked so hard to bring about on this continent.
The first battle in what I expect to be a short, nearly bloodless war has been joined here, but I expect with our supperior union forces we shall open many fronts on which the Southern disloyals will be unable to maintain their presence. We shall have a march to the ‘net!
Signed,
Mark Harris
Supreme Chancellor of Save The GOP
