CRNC & Comment Policy

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

Recently I have noticed a lot of personal attacks going on in the comments and that is not what this is about. No one cares about if someone smokes, has a weird personal life, etc. We can have this discussion on a much higher level. Moreover this slandering of non-related people, such as Annie Kelly and the ED rumour is absolutely rediculous and once again I disagree with the level CRNCTruthCaucus has sunk. If Annie was picked for ED, I would consider it a serious bonus for the Gourley ticket as she is one of the best and brightest the CRs have to offer. That being said I am nearly certain she has no intention of taking such a spot and it is just more senseless personal comments.

I urge all anonymous posters, the anonomous blogger over at CRNCTruthCaucus, and others to immediately cut this crap out which only hurts the College Republicans. Talk about RDI… fine. Talk about finances…. good. But don’t bring up personal stuff.

Campaign Finance Reform a Big Scam?

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

Surprise, surprise. Apparently the archtiechts behind the “grassroots” movement for campaign finance reform are admitting it was one GIANT scam. Check out this unbelivable article in the NY Post.

Charged with promoting campaign-finance reform when he joined Pew in the mid-1990s, Treglia came up with a three-pronged strategy: 1) pursue an expansive agenda through incremental reforms, 2) pay for a handful of “experts” all over the country with foundation money and 3) create fake business, minority and religious groups to pound the table for reform.

“The target audience for all this activity was 535 people in Washington,” Treglia says — 100 in the Senate, 435 in the House. “The idea was to create an impression that a mass movement was afoot — that everywhere they looked, in academic institutions, in the business community, in religious groups, in ethnic groups, everywhere, people were talking about reform.”

CHINA, RUSSIA TO ‘REHEARSE INVASION OF TAIWAN’

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

Drudge is reporting that China and Russia will conduct a military exercise of the invasion of Taiwan! Another sign of Beijing’s growing boldness.

MOSCOW, March 17. (RIA Novosti)-Yesterday, Chief of the Russian General Staff Yury Baluyevsky left for China to settle a scandal over the first Russian-Chinese military exercise, Commonwealth-2005, which is due to be held this fall off the Yellow Sea coast, writes Kommersant.

The initial plans were to practice operational teamwork in combating terrorism during the exercise. However, Beijing, skillfully changing the format of the exercise, has tried to re-orient the two countries’ armies to practicing an invasion of Taiwan.

Conservative Budgetary Victory

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

According to an article in The Hill, Conservatives won a major budget victory yesterday by getting Republican leadership to agree to fundamental reforms in the budget process.

After RSC Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.), one of the key lawmakers involved in the contentious push for budget reform, addressed the conference, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) angrily demanded of the conservative rebels how they planned to pass the budget, an implication that reform would make it more difficult to pass budget and appropriations legislation, said a lawmaker who attended the meeting.

“DeLay got into it with some members on the budget,” another GOP lawmaker said.

Would someone please remind me why the Republicans seem to be taking it on the chin for Delay and he is bashing our solid conservative members?

But the political impact is likely much greater, as it is one of the few times that a faction of Republican House members has battled with the party’s leaders and won. It is all the more significant because the leadership conceded to give up some of its power, perhaps the reason that GOP leaders fought conservatives so hard on the issue.

One Republican RSC aide said, “This is the first time the RSC did anything,” alluding to the group’s previous reputation of buckling under pressure.

Amen boys, amen! Keep up the good work

Independence from European Pansies and Terrorist Dictators

Finally we have enough sense to use our own God given energy resources. Is it just me or does it seem like the left likes keeping Americans dependent and reliant on the government and our nation as a whole dependent on other countries for our oil. This is a disturbing trend that has terrible consequences. So now we are at the mercy of the Arab countries for our oil, we have a large percentage of people who believe we need the permission of the French, Chinese, Russians, and the rest of the world to protect our own sovereignty and now as Alex has mentioned, we have Supreme Court justices that believe we need to be dependant on other countries’ for interpreting our own constitution and laws! Thankfully Bush has kept us from being placed under the World Court. It is now to the point where our own secretary of defense has to be cautious about going to a NATO conference in Germany for fear that he might be arrested and tried for war crimes by countries who hate us. So while the left may believe we can achieve world peace by hand cuffing our hands behind our back and placing our heads in the noose, I will continue to fight for our nation’s independence, independence in our energy resources, independence in our interpretation of law, independence in our ability to protect our sovereignty and security, and individual independence to live the American dream without the government on our backs. If our own government no longer protects these rights of man and of nations, then I am grabbing my pitch fork, torch and gun and I am marching on Washington. Give me liberty or give me death. Who’s with me?
