Well it looks liek the sick soap opera of CRNC politics continues to get worse… I can not confirm whether this is authentic or not though I did recieve a picture of their signatures. If so its the end of the line for Centinello though hopefully these folks who signed this letter realize that Gourley is no angel. We’ll see…

A Declaration of existing members of

The New York College Republican Executive Board

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one
people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with
another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and
equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle
them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they
should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

“There comes a point when as a people you realize that you can no
longer just simply protest. You can no longer verbally chastise the
actions of others while you allow those wrongs to be done. This point
comes when you realize that you must stand up for what is right, and
ultimately what is for the best of your constituents. What is best
for the clubs, the organization, the Party.”

–That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of itself,
it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to
institute a new organization and a new Chairman, laying its foundation
on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them
shall seem most likely to effect their productiveness and vitality.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that the NYCRSC long established should
not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all
experience hath shown, that this organization is more disposed to
suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by
abolishing the Chairman to which they are accustomed. But when a long
train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object
evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their
right, it is their duty, their responsibility, to throw off such a
ruler, and to provide new Guards for the future security of the
organization. —Such has been the patient sufferance the New York State
College Republicans; and such is now the necessity which constrains
them to alter the current situation. The history of the present
Chairman Dan Centinello is a history of repeated injuries and
usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an
absolute Tyranny over this organization. To prove this, let Facts be
submitted to a candid state.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, and the State constitution, the
most wholesome and necessary for the good of the organization. He has
obstructed any proposed checks and balances proposed by the State
Committee Executive Board.

He has forbidden his State Committee to enact actions of immediate and
pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his
Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly
neglected to attend to them.

He has called together the State Committee in an untimely,
inconsistent manner, at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant
from the depository of their clubs, for the sole purpose of fatiguing,
and manipulating them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved clubs and entire regions repeatedly for opposing his
policies or lack there of.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to allow
others to be elected; whereby he has rigged and stolen elections. He
has used intimidation and scare tactics to force people to resign, and
ultimately abused his power of influence.

He has endeavored to prevent the expansion of clubs in this state
unless it overwhelmingly and unquestionably supports him.

He has made officers dependent on his will alone, for the tenure of
their offices.

He has erected a multitude of new clubs, and harassed our members, and
intimidated our executive boards.

He has used slander, and libel, both personal and professional to
degrade the character of those in his presence. He had done this for
personal gain and with complete disregard for others.

For cutting off communication amongst the Executive Board by disabling
our emails and contact information.

For destroying all communication on a regional and statewide level.

For destroying relations with Town and County committees.

For destroying relations with the New York State Republican Committee.

For taking away our Chapters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and
altering fundamentally, the forms and policies of our Constitution.

He has incited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored
to promote revolts in our own chapters.

He has ignored what is best for New York State so that he may focus on
national politics, all at the expense of the organization and the
Republican Party here in New York.

In every stage of these Oppressions we have petitioned for redress in
the most humble terms: Our repeated petitions have been answered only
by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every
act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Chairman of the New
York College Republican State Committee.

We, therefore, the New York College Republican State Committee
Executive Board in affiliation with the College Republican National
Committee are hereby making a declaration of independence. By the
authority bestowed upon us in our beloved constitution, and our moral
obligation, we do herby strip Chairman Dan Centinello of all clout and
power. We hereby proclaim control and oversight of the 2005 NYCRSC
Convention and all of its policies. As a unified State Committee
Executive Board, we remove the authority to recognize and derecognize
any club from the Chairman’s hands and back into the committees. We
herby remove any power delegated to the Chairman by our constitution,
and remove his representation of the State. We hereby declare that
the Chairman, a Tyrant, for all intents and purposes is stripped of
his honor and decree. With a firm reliance on the protection and the
vitality of our organization and its clubs, we mutually pledge to each
other our dedication, our respect, our honor.

Signatures to Ratify,

All other officers have resigned by means of defacto or dejure.

    as someone who’s very close to this whole thing (I helped draft the letter) I can say that this has nothing to do with the National election. At all.

    The state committee (including Dan) agreed that New York would not stand for the scandal that happened with the donations and what have you.

    This was based on what dan did in new york, not who he supports for national, as I believe that most of New York was against stealing money from the elderly.

    This is completely legit. As of now the NYCRSC is not endorsing anyone for national. As stated by the previous post this had absolutely nothing to do with national politics. I believe that we vividly expressed in the declaration why we did this. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    My Fellow College Republicans:

    At this time I am sure you have read and received the unanimous declaration on behalf of the entire Executive Board for the New York College Republican State Committee. I am proud to have joined my fellow executive board members in signing that declaration.

    Since our entire board was elected last April we stood divided. For the first time since all of us were elected to serve the New York College Republicans we have been united. We have all finally worked as one for one common goal, the good and future of the New York College Republicans.

    Rather then attacking Chairman Daniel Centinello, I rather just say that it is about time that we work to remove him as Chairman! There has never been an individual who has divided the New York College Republicans as much as Dan has. Not only was the entire executive board non-trusting of each other, but clubs were dividing.

    The future of this nation rest in the hands of New York! There are many important races including the 2006 Senatorial Race with Hillary Clinton. If we are weak internally, we will fail as we did in 2004 publicly.

    Now is the time to bury the hatchet, make peace and join as one. Division in New York is no longer an option! We must work together and reunite, rebuild and restructure. When the day is done we will succeed! In years to come, people will look at this is one of the smartest moves in New York Politics! We will restore dignity, honor and valor back to the New York College Republicans!

    No longer will bullies be allowed to hold office within the New York College Republicans. We will rebuild this organization so that Republicans run it.

    I was quick to say that we were not going to endorse any one particular candidate because I wanted to make sure we did not step on anyone’s toes. I also did not want to allow any rumors to flurish about the NYCRSC endorsing a particular candidate when we had not discussed anything amongst ourselves. I am sorry if this took some people back, it seemed like the safest thing to do given the situtation. After speaking with some other members of the committee I am hereby pledging my support to Michael Davidson for National Chairman. As stated by several others our state politics at the moment have no reflection upon our national. I hope this will calm some of you that were taken back by the situation.

    It’s over. It’s time to move on. We got our clocks cleaned on Election Day, and it hasn’t ended there:
    The chairman of the Siena CRs has been suspended pending expulsion hearings on politically motivated harassment charges.
    Hillary Clinton has been chosen to speak at RPI’s commencement, despite coming in 15th out of 22 when the senior class voted.
    Campus Action, the socialist activists in Albany, are chasing military recruiters off local campuses for no good reason.
    And, in case that wasn’t reason enough, there’s an election in seven months.
    Let’s put this behind this, and vow we’ll never mention it again. We have our work cut out for us, and if we come together and get the job done, we’ll once again be proud to call ourselves College Republicans.     There is only one thing that can truly fix this organiztion. There is something that needed to be done long ago, and everyone knows it! We need to unite as a State and give Eric Amidon what was truly his last year, the Chairmanship. If we are going to unite this state, it can only be done by electing Eric Amidon the next Chairman of NYCRSC.

    I know that he has recently declined this nomination. However, I also know that he has more support from colleges across this state than any candidate could dream of. I ask that all chapters help me in asking Eric Amidon to be our next New York College Republican State Chairman.

    Eric Amidon is the former NYCRSC Eastern Vice chair, he ran aginst Dan. the Former Chair Ben Dublin, and Sean Carroll fixed the election by making fake schools and chaninging the constitution by themselves. Eric now works for the NY State Party.

    I, for one, believe that it is about time that Dan Centinello got what he deserved. He has done nothing but separated us as young Republicans. It’s time for a new beginning and I feel that we need Eric Amidon as our leader! Many people agree with me on this and I think if we come together we can make New York, once again, strong with Republican spirit!

    I have spoken to Amidon personally and he as assured me he is not inerested in running. He is a great guy, but his time in the CR’s has passed. There are certainly a number of dedicated able minded people that are fit for the job from all regions of the state. This is not going to be solved with one person, or one chairman. This is going to require a joint effort from all involved. The State committee has realized this and has made contacts with every necessary person to ensure we do not divide the state like it has been for the past year. We do not need a repeat of last years convention. We must now rally together as New York CR’s and do what is best for all. We have plenty of good leadership in this state, we just need to make sure we have good leadership in every position possible.

    Alright, I just had a long talk with a bunch of people. I will be at the State Convention, God permitting. I’m going to just observe. Not because I’m some old warlock seeking to eat any young naive souls, but because I spent 5 years in this organization and oddly enough, I’d like to see it survive and prosper.

    Should Eric Amidon be the new chair? No, there are many, many reasons why he would make a bad chair.

    Am I pissed at Matt Pelkey? Well, sort of, but it’s not specifically because of the letter. I was a Western Vice Chair once too.

    After talking to a bunch of people tonight it seems that obviously there is a discrepancy in what I am hearing. More specifically it seems that many ER board members are upset over the communication between the Chair and themselves.

    Now, hearing the whole story, it seems tha I know the situation.

    I have to say, there is a lot of relevance to my time spent in the CRs and the situation that has transpired. Same crap, different day. If anyone will bear me, hopefully I can talk about it in Rochester.

    Bill I wasn’t trying to start anything with you, I was simply stating that I was not the sole person on that letter, nor was it my idea. I guess I feel a little more personally attached to the situation given certain circumstances that will remain unsaid. If you are as close to the situation as you sound, then I need not tell you. I too care about the organization, and is actually the sole reason I agreed help. Up until a month ago I had all but given up because I felt there was nothing that could be done. What has happened was the result of several people who realized the problems that came together to try and do something about them. I agree that we should all try and figure out the best approach. I just feel that this organization has come second to national politics, and if we wish to really bring positive change to this state we need to abandon any personal aspirations or agendas. This next year is more or less going to be interim gov’t. One that needs to reconstruct this state committee and its relations. I certainly do not want to push any fellow New Yorkers aside at this point and time. So as a member of the current administration I would like to extend an olive branch to all that were wronged in the past year, and welcome them back to the table. This is not a personal attempt to gather support for my own campaign, as it may seem to some of you. I have already expressed that under no circumstances will I be running for chairman.     Today, as we all are aware in NY State, we received this e-mail from a group of NYCR executives. As the humble chairman of a strong and long-established CR club in the western region of New York, I have been idly observing the events of the past year since Mr. Centinello’s ascent to the position of state chair.

    The events that occurred today truly disturbed me. Particularly because of the people who placed their signature on this letter. Over the year, in particular, I have been contacted twice by Mr. Pelkey by e-mail, a major shortcoming for someone who needs be in constant contact, especially during the year of a presidential election. He has never offered to visit my campus and meet with my club. He has never befriended me, even after I have repeatedly introduced myself, and worked to reach out to him and his organization. He has never outreached to any organization, beyond the two e-mails. Further, I attended one meeting of two regional meetings he has held. The meeting I attended he was present, but the other he planned and failed to attend.

    The list can certainly go on of his failings as a regional chairman. While he may have his grievances with our state chairman, he certainly has no excuse for his impotency concerning western regional affairs. Mr. Centinello did not stop him from contacting organizations in his region? Mr. Centinello did not stop from working hard and fulfilling his position? Mr. Centinello did not stop him from working for the Republican Party and the state we all love?

    Mr. Pelkey should stop blaming others. He clearly spends a lot of time looking at himself in the mirror, but maybe he should look further, and see that it is his fault and all of the executive board who have completely turned their backs on the man who trusted them and helped them attain their current positions. There is only one thing in politics that you can have and that is “your word.” These gentlemen have relinquished this trust, and I hope all of you will disassociate yourselves with people like Gregorio Pro, who for his own selfish reasons, would to put it very lightly “stab his friend in the back.”

    As the chairman and observer of these affairs, it has been Mr. Centinello who has worked his ass off to make this state work. He has called me, IMed me, visited me, and showed that he truly cares about my club’s future and the state’s future. Mr. Pelkey has shown none of these traits, and he cannot blame his lack of these traits on anyone but himself.

    Truly, we all need to look through the dirty tactics of the authors of this e-mail, and see that these men are upset with not being asked to be put on the upcoming ticket with Centinello for next year in the NYCRSC.

    Considering the events over the last year, if you were Mr. Centinello, would you put someone so lazy, selfish, and simply a vain person, to be on your ticket again? The state is moving in the right direction, and some individuals, the authors of the e-mail, are stopping this with their selfish tactics. Anyone who speaks personally with Mr. Centinello will realize his devotion, his work ethic, and his sincerity in understanding each club and helping out in everyway possible.

    I feel “hard work” is the only thing you need to be successful throughout life, and especially politics. Mr. Centinello has embodied the image of someone working for all of those CRs across the state and I. Mr. Pelkey has failed us in the western region and the entire executive board has failed us. No one has stopped them from working hard! I will never vote for men who bitch and complain, and at the same time do not do a thing. Good riddance to the authors of this e-mail!

    Today, as we all are aware in NY State, we received this e-mail from a group of NYCR executives. As the humble chairman of a strong and long-established CR club in the western region of New York, I have been idly observing the events of the past year since Mr. Centinello’s ascent to the position of state chair.

    The events that occurred today truly disturbed me. Particularly because of the people who placed their signature on this letter. Over the year, in particular, I have been contacted twice by Mr. Pelkey by e-mail, a major shortcoming for someone who needs be in constant contact, especially during the year of a presidential election. He has never offered to visit my campus and meet with my club. He has never befriended me, even after I have repeatedly introduced myself, and worked to reach out to him and his organization. He has never outreached to any organization, beyond the two e-mails. Further, I attended one meeting of two regional meetings he has held. The meeting I attended he was present, but the other he planned and failed to attend.

    The list can certainly go on of his failings as a regional chairman. While he may have his grievances with our state chairman, he certainly has no excuse for his impotency concerning western regional affairs. Mr. Centinello did not stop him from contacting organizations in his region? Mr. Centinello did not stop from working hard and fulfilling his position? Mr. Centinello did not stop him from working for the Republican Party and the state we all love?

    Mr. Pelkey should stop blaming others. He clearly spends a lot of time looking at himself in the mirror, but maybe he should look further, and see that it is his fault and all of the executive board who have completely turned their backs on the man who trusted them and helped them attain their current positions. There is only one thing in politics that you can have and that is “your word.” These gentlemen have relinquished this trust, and I hope all of you will disassociate yourselves with people like Gregorio Pro, who for his own selfish reasons, would to put it very lightly “stab his friend in the back.”

    As the chairman and observer of these affairs, it has been Mr. Centinello who has worked his ass off to make this state work. He has called me, IMed me, visited me, and showed that he truly cares about my club’s future and the state’s future. Mr. Pelkey has shown none of these traits, and he cannot blame his lack of these traits on anyone but himself.

    Truly, we all need to look through the dirty tactics of the authors of this e-mail, and see that these men are upset with not being asked to be put on the upcoming ticket with Centinello for next year in the NYCRSC.

    Considering the events over the last year, if you were Mr. Centinello, would you put someone so lazy, selfish, and simply a vain person, to be on your ticket again? The state is moving in the right direction, and some individuals, the authors of the e-mail, are stopping this with their selfish tactics. Anyone who speaks personally with Mr. Centinello will realize his devotion, his work ethic, and his sincerity in understanding each club and helping out in everyway possible.

    I feel “hard work” is the only thing you need to be successful throughout life, and especially politics. Mr. Centinello has embodied the image of someone working for all of those CRs across the state and I. Mr. Pelkey has failed us in the western region and the entire executive board has failed us. No one has stopped them from working hard! I will never vote for men who bitch and complain, and at the same time do not do a thing. Good riddance to the authors of this e-mail!

    The only influence Dan’s stance on the RDI scandal had on the state was that he was more vocal about that than any other cause in the state, and that angered quite a few of us. When my chapter was planning a major event, we asked Dan to help us get media coverage. He refused, but proceeded to insist that we direct to him any reporters we did manage to contact. It’s safe to say the majority of NY CRs were angry with CRNC about RDI, because it gave the individual chapters a bad name despite our lack of involvement. Dan was removed because he was vindictive, because he was powerhungry and because he was self-absorbed, and the state organization was suffering from that. If you have a clinical need for the full list of reasons, please, IM me (IhaveRPIgoggles), and spare the rest of the CRs from having to follow this soap opera. It’s time to move on to what really matters - Siena Steve is still suspended, Hillary is still coming to RPI’s commencement, Campus Action is still plotting against the military, and that’s just what’s going on here in the Capital Region. Let’s put this behind us, figure out our priorities, and work together to start kicking some liberal ass, because God knows there’s plenty of it to go around.

    The text of the letter is clear, the E-board was acting fully within their Constitutional authority to remove power from the Chairman and in the interim assume the duties imposed on the Chairman in the Constitution and by-laws. Mr. Centinello has been stripped of his power by a requisite majority of the E-Board, and that is that. It is what it is. Centinello will not be nominated at the Convention, because no one will support him. The important point here is that Centinello could have escaped this fate, but it is too late now. As Centinello is fond of saying, “this is only business, it’s not personal.” Everyone on the E-board used to be close to Dan, but now it is best for the business of the NYCR’s to remove him from power.

    Matt never called me up to see how things were going, Centinello did.
    Matt was not present at many State functions, Centinello was.

    Matt as a whole did poorly at his post this year. However, he appears to be a man of character with a keen eye for flaws in others. Rare is it that this trait is lauded for its benefits. Mr Pelkey has a long way to go to earn the distinction of the title he carries. The Eboard has resigned and Dan had assured me that he will be running the elections as Chairman. He was not removed as Chairman because the executive board did not follow the rules of the consitution in removing him.     If anything, this whole situation proves just how fractioned the state is. It proves that we are not united, and that these poor results are a result of poor leadership. Right now we need someone who is willing to work together and unify the state. Work with Eric, work with the Rep. State committee which currently holds a lot of animosity towards Dan, and work with our county committees. We have a lot of big races coming up in the next couple years for this state, and our counties. Do we want to spend the next 12 years where the dems have been, because honestly that is the road we are going down, this is a chance to change that. I hope all of you realize that this was not done because of personal ambitions, it was done with approval of everyone, from the local level up to the top. It is rediculous to even concider that there are no problems in this State and Dan did a wonderful job. This State Committee and this Party are now more fractioned than ever, even the Democrats are begining to see that. If we dont use this as an opputunity to unite, and solve the problems we are going to be stuck in the shadows of the Democratic Party in New York for a long time. It is time we start realizing what our real goals are here, and work to strengthen this party at all applicable levels.

    Eric Amidon, A Proven Leader

    Eric has been a leader all his life, it’s almost second nature for him. From the earliest days of high school, Eric has been dedicated to working to further the causes that are important to him, no matter how small.

    In high school, Eric served as Youth Coordinator for Congressman Amory Houghton. He worked with youth in the area, organizing volunteer and other various groups. During his junior year, Eric, and a group of students that he had organized for campaigning, formed the Steuben County TeenAge Republicans. The club prospered, and the following year, Eric became one of the cofounders of the New York State TeenAge Republicans.

    Eric was also extremely active with the Lazio for Senate campaign in Western New York. He even organized a group of youth to travel to New York City a few times with the campaign in efforts to keep Hillary Clinton out of the state.

    Although extremely focused on sophisticated ordeals, Eric still paid attention to the “little” details. He was the Editor and Chief of his school’s newspaper during his junior year, and was elected Student Council President his senior year.

    Eric’s leadership did not cease when he left the security of high school and a known territory. During his freshman year at the University at Albany, Eric’s excitement and extreme passion reenergized the University’s College Republicans as he served as Vice-Chairman of the chapter.

    During his time as vice-chair, Eric took great strides to not only involve the chapter in more campaign work, but to also become better known on the campus as “the best party on campus.” At the end of his freshman year, Eric had been elected Chairman of the club. During his chairmanship, the club reached amazing heights, earning respect both on campus and on the campaign trail, and became one of the largest chapters in the state.

    Eric has continued to prove himself as a leader time and time again. Most recently, he has acted as the campaign manager for a Mayoral race in the city of Schenectady. Eric took Peter Guidarelli’s campaign to levels few thought possible, but Eric had the passion and the drive to make it a reality.

    He worked for Congressman John Sweeney for a year before going on full time with the New York Republican State Committee. He currently is very active in state wide campaigns.

Now is the time for us to unite and go on the offensive. The East-West, Dan-Eric feud is done, but we still face the same threats as we did before. Only now, we have the unity to deal with them.

    As I write, the chairman of the Siena CRs, Steve Bierfeldt, is sitting at his house 100 miles south pending expulsion proceedings because he spoke out against a liberal group on campus. We can save Steve, but we need to work together. We can stop Hillary Clinton from speaking at RPI’s graduation in May, but we need to work together. We can stop the libs in Albany from messing with ROTC and the armed forces, but we have to work together. This blog was designed to bring conservatives together, to work for the betterment of our party, not to provide a soapbox for this squabbling. Now, I know Albany/Troy isn’t the only part of the state having problems - IM me at ihaverpigoggles, I want to hear what the rest of you are up against and how we can help.     Chairman Dan Centinello,

    Over the past 8 Months I have learned much about your character. In the past week, I have solidified my feelings about your way of working. I no longer feel comfortable running on your ticket as Co-Chairman. This is not the first time I have considered this action. In fact it took some long talks with close friends to help me understand that we must deal with this now, because in the future we have a chance to make it right.

    For a long time I have considered you one of my close friends. You have sometimes considered us “brothers.” But if I had a brother, I would treat him with dignity and respect. You have shown me neither of those qualities. You demanded that I respect you, but at no time have I ever felt you have respected me. I have also never felt that you have ever respected any of your own people. You have made us go out of our way to achieve your objectives. Once those objectives were met, at no time did you commend us, only harassed us for not exceeding your expectations. You have shown me that you can only lead when you surround yourself with individuals that would not question your actions. These individuals have fallen into the idea that you were their source for the future. They saw you sitting on a mountain of prosperity and hope. Mr. Centinello, that mountain does not exist.

    I no longer believe you are the correct person to lead the New York College Republicans to the next level. Your sudden interest in national politics has led me to believe that your actions serve no purpose beyond your own selfish ambitions.     Effective immediately I am no longer involved with campaign efforts for the current chairman, Dan Centinello.     Daniel Centinello:

    As the chairman of the St. Bonaventure University College Republicans, I have grown alongside you with your ascent to the chairmanship of our great state organization. In this process, I greatly respected and supported you in the position that you certainly earned and deserved. However, it was not until I attained the position of campaign manager for the Dan Centinello 2005-2006 ticket, that I realized I cannot support you for your candidacy any longer.

    The events surrounding the following letter have come rapidly and unexpectedly. However, this does not weaken the reasoning that concerns my resignation.

    Over the last twenty-four hours, the entire state has been through an extraordinary amount of drama. I have been in the middle of this, not knowing whether to simply jump or to bail the water from the ship. I decided to do the latter upon the news of much of the executive board resigning, primarily because of the respect and devotion I have towards you and the entire ticket who I have worked tirelessly to support and campaign for. As the campaign manager for the entire ticket, and not simply the chairman, I was faced with this decision again, and I have decided to resign as of today, March 20, 2005.

    This letter has become the toughest thing I have had to do in politics. As campaign manager, it is my job to fight for the campaign even in grim circumstances. However, when the people I have been fighting for and have the most loyalty and respect for, decide that one of the other candidates is unfit, I must agree also. However, my loyalties are certainly not the only reason I have come to this difficult decision.

    This resignation is not the result of the problem that faced the campaign, but is rooted in the definitive promise for a united New York state. Our goal as College Republicans is to turn the state “red.” All of our hard work at the local level, simply is not being rewarded and furthered on the state level, and without change, this will never occur.

    The intent of this resignation is not to harm your character, but to provide the state with the opportunity to grow. I have truly grown to respect your hard work and your friendship, but often I feel like your appreciation of my hard work is hollow. More importantly, this hard work is exploited to further your political aspirations.

    State politics has become truly foul and I hope that any person that reads this letter intends to end this before and after the upcoming convention. It is time to move on as a state, and in order to do so, it will take everyone to discontinue personal attacks and remember that we are all Republicans.

    I am informing you that as of today Sunday, March 20, 2005 I no longer seek the position of Central Region Credentials Rep. on your ticket.

    I have had, for sometime, doubts about your personal character and leadership abilities. After discussions with several members throughout the state, these doubts became a strong distaste for your actions. Therefore, I have decided to distance myself from your ticket and any activity that is associated with your campaign.

    You have failed to show me that you possess any of the qualities that I would expect a candidate for chairman to have. You have shown me that you have no respect for others. You have shown me that you demand to be the center of any event and that you are ruthless. You have also shown me that you care only for the advancement of your own personal objectives.     Well, it certainly appears, my too scared to post his name friend, that the past two “elections” for state chairman sure have done a great job in uniting the state. I mean, Dublin sure did a lot for the state of New York. He poured lots of money into the buffet restaurant chain. As for Mr. Centinello, he has aided in advancing the metro revolution across Western New York.

    So in order to unite not just the state, but the national College Republican order, we need two candidates who are proven not to eat at too many buffets and wear too many pink shirts. That, my friends, is the key to victory.

    It’s really tragic that the only thing getting tossed around about the NYCRSC elections are names and not issues. Would it really be too much to ask that people have a plan, that we know that the car ride to Rochester next month won’t mark the most important thing the CRs did in 2005?

    What will unite the state? Perhaps it’s time for us to remember we have what unites us exceeds what divides us. We are NY CRs - WE are the ones charged with stopping Hillary before she runs for president. WE are the ones who need to keep Eliot Spitzer out of the governor’s mansion. WE are the ones who need to crash socialist rallies. These are not duties of the east or the west or another region - these are OUR duties. WE need to come together and get them done. WE need to come up with a plan that has EVERY chapter playing a part, because WE *CAN* win.

    My name is Ryan Reeves and I am the treasurer of the Brockport College Republicans. I have seen first hand the abuses committed by Centinello that were mentioned in the declaration from the executive board.
    A couple of examples of abuses are the following:
    1) He influenced our club elections. During the first semester of this year, Nick Gunther and I were running for Vice Chair of the BCR. After the election, there was a tie. Centinello somehow got wind of the tie and pressured Chairman Tom Johnson to appoint Gunther as Vice Chair of the BCR. If Chairman Tom failed to do so, Brockport would no longer be allowed to host the State Convention. We as a club thought that it was important to host the Convention; therefore, Gunther was appointed to the position of Vice Chair. However, since the starting of the second semester, Gunter has failed to attend one meeting and has only once excused himself for missing a meeting. I therefore stepped up to the plate and am currently doing his job as well as mine. We are in the process of removing him from his position.
    2) He used scare tactics.
    a) One night during CPAC in Washington, D.C. Centinello heard that a member of the BCR was not going to support him for Chairman of the NYCRSC. Centinello said that if that member did not support him, then he would be black listed from a prestigious law school in New York State and that it would be hard for him to get into any other law school in New York State. This scared and upset the member very much. The member did not know what kind of power Centinello had or what kind of power Centinello thought he had. No matter how powerful you think you are, you should never say this or do this.
    b) I have heard repeatedly from other members in the BCR that Centinello has said, “If you don’t do __________ /agree with/ support me then you will never work in New York again/never get into politics.” Most of the people that he has said this to are either young or do not know how limited Centinello’s power really was. This was a grave abuse of his power.

    As Americans it is our right to disagree with, not support, and/or question authority if what the authority figure is asking you to do does not sound right. If you are in a position of authority/power, you should not abuse that power by threatening your subordinates. This does not increase your popularity, but only breads hate and contempt.

    At the State Convention, I am going to be an alternate voting for the State Chair on behalf of the BCR if Nick Gunther is impeached; which will certainly be likely. I was not going to vote for Centinello because I knew that he was a snake and would only use us to further his political ambitions while stepping on us in the process. I made my intentions known to several of the members of the BCR. They said that I would have to because it would look bad if Brockport did not support Frank Guidice, his then running mate. They were afraid if I did not vote for Centinello, Brockport would get the shaft from Centinello and the State Committee and our image as the BCR would be tarnished. I am now glad to hear that I will not have to be put into this position. I thought Frank was as big a snake as Centinello was, but after reading his post, I realize that he was only doing the things he was because of Centinello.

    I congratulate the executive board for having the guts to remove Centinello from his office. My hope is that the New York State College Republicans will once again become united and work for the greater good. I hope that once this is all put behind, us we can work on the real task at hand: Getting Hillary out of office in ’06.

    This week is truly a dark part of the New York State College Republican history. I am sure we are the laughing stock to all the College Democrats out there. But I would like to commend Michael Backus, RJ Briggs, Anthony Lemma, Greg Pro, Patrick Juliano, and Matt Pelkey. You all have created a new beacon of hope for the NY College Republicans. You guys had your backs to the wall; your political reputations at stake, but you all choose to do the right thing. Dan Centinello is an immoral leader, and the word “ethics” has never once crossed his train of thought. Dan Centinello is the no more then a school bully. He uses scare tactics to personally benefit his own well being, and does this with no regard for anyone else. But what most people don’t know about bullies is the reason they bully others is because they are personally insecure. This is true with Dan Centinello. He is an insecure person who needs to abuse his power in order to make himself feel better about his downfalls. Unfortunately, this was done at the expense of the NY College Republicans.

    When I first met Dan, I thought he was a great person. I really looked up to him, and respected him. But then the true side of him came out. This occured when he wanted my group to help him steal signs from an opposing candidate of an elected official I will not name. He said the Democrats are stealing our signs, so we have to get them back. I replied, we are better then the Democrats, lets act like the young conservatives we are and do something diplomatic. We do not have to stoop to their level. He replied with idol threats, and I basically cut off ties with him at that point. Dan Centinello also threatened out myself, and our group when our club constitution was not to his liking, and as Mr. Reeves mentioned earlier, but our Vice Chair was not of his approval. The fact is, we live in a democracy, it is not up to Dan to pick our constitution or elected officials. His actions were that of a modern day Hitler, do what I say, or suffer. I also had experience with Centinello blacklisting a member of our club to a certain college as mentioned earlier simply because this member did not agree with Centinello. I’m sorry Dan, did you forget we are the College Republicans, not College Democrats, we don’t do things like that.

    I am so pleased that the members of the executive board have finally realized that examples like this are uncalled for. So my club and I commend you, and in the future, if any of you any need any help, don’t even hesitate to ask. I would also like to commend the people who resigned from Centinello’s ticket, and realizing what kind of person he is and doing the right thing. I would especially like to commend Mr. Frank Guidice. Frank is the reason I am involved with the club now, and he has helped me get where I am in other aspects of politics. I think Frank’s decision shows a lot about his character, and he should be commended. I always disliked Frank’s ties with Centinello, but I have renewed faith in him now that he has made the right choice.

    It has come to the attention that many people who had worked with Dan Centinello were willing to go to his level. This is absoultly not true. Many of the people that were in Dan’s “inner circle” in fact tried to stop him from doing what he was doing with the Chairmanship Elections. It is too bad that Dan had to ruin these people names in your eyes but Frank Guidice did not in my opinion ever step down to Dan Centinello’s level. There were many other people behind the scene that either stepped down from helping Dan or tried their hardest to make Dan realize that he should and could not do what he was doing. So as we now know Dan Centinello is a complete fraud and we now need to move on to help rebuild the NY State College Republicans after the dictorship rule of Dan Centinello who divided us to an unknown level. A level that we should have never been at in the first place. Let it be know that whoever steps up to the plate for the 2005-2006 year will need a good head on their shoulders to help fix what happened in 2004 so we can now “strive” in 2005. I personal recommend that Michael Backus, RJ Briggs, Anthony Lemma, Greg Pro, Patrick Juliano, and Matt Pelkey be the men that reform and rebuild the NYS College Republicans. We do not need this division anymore that Centinello created because we have three races that we need to focus on in 2006. A year which could take NYS down the long liberal road for generations to come.

    In the course of leading a morally sound life; duty, virtue, honor, and integrity all come to mind. It is no secret that these things are all characteristics of the morally sound, ethical and objective truth that should be the basis of our decisions and actions.

    It is also no secret that sometimes doing what is right by such things and doing what is popular is not always equal. In fact many times, doing what is right is not popular at all.

    However, in regards to recent events on the State Committee level, it seems that doing what is right is in fact popular. After reading much into the recent events I and the rest of us University at Buffalo (UB) CR’s are in agreement that standing up to Chairman or former Chairman Centinello’s certainly less than honorable actions is to be commended.

    I speak for myself and the UB CR’s when I say that we are in support of those involved in ousting Dan. Though the seeming disarray may appear chaotic to some, we recognize the recent events as a sign that our party is one of duty, virtue, honor and integrity. The recent events have shown that we will not tolerate dishonorable actions; even by those in our own party. Our duty, our virtue, our honor, and our integrity is maintained.

    By ousting Dan our State Committee already is becoming, and certainly will become less divided. A group less divided is united and united we can carry out the mission of our conservative ideas. Keep fighting the good fight. You have our support

    We are truly at a crossroads for this organization. I began a club at SUNY Cortland in the face of consistent attacks from the left on campus. Under the supervision of the previous executive board, I learned how to run an effective organization on campus. SUNY Cortland won the award for best new chapter and hosted many events. I left the club in the able hands of Angela Korbel as I took on the position of Treasurer. Last years eboard elected in Syracuse had such potential. RJ Briggs, Mike Backus, Matthew Pelkey, Greg Pro and others were an ambitious group ready for big things. Unfortunately, the top of the ticket did not see his eboard the way I did.

    Yes, we supported Dan Centinello at last years convention. The candidate we supported was a young man that we believed had a vision for the fufure and the best interest of the College Republicans at heart. Unfortunately, we received the opposite. I am not going to repeat the allegations made against Dan. If anyone would like to refresh their memory, they can review the letter on the website.

    I would like to speak for myself now, and offer an apology to all CR’s statewide for supporting Dan last year. Republicans in New York need unity more than anything else right now. I will admit that my candidate for chairman at last years convention has cost us dearly. We as an organization are way behind the 8-ball. This years convention should serve as a springboard ahead into the upcoming year. Good ideas and open discussions for events, campaign strategies, advertising and fundraising are vital. As I enter my graduate work, I look forward to keeping my connections with this organization and will do whatever I can to assist the incoming executive board in making sure the following year is nothing short of a complete succss. I will see you all in Rochester.

    Fellow College Republicans:

    First, I want to congratulate the entire New York State College Republican Executive Board on making the issues that are facing our organization public and taking the action to solve them. I think that the recent develops have been a ray of hope on a dark chapter of the NY College Republicans.

    Secondly, I am very honored by the support that I obtained last year at the Syracuse Convention as well as the outpouring support I have received these past few days to run for Chairman. Unfortunately, I will not be seeking the position of NYCRSC Chairman. The College Republicans have been an important aspect of my college career and I do not regret any part of it. Yet in the end that is exactly what it is-part of my college career. That chapter of my life is ending and I am moving onto what I hope to be brighter opportunities in my life. I work fulltime at NY Republican State Committee, recently got engaged to a wonderful girl, and will be entering Law School after the 2006 elections. Unlike many people in the past I will not try to stay and remain “king maker” to the College Republicans. All I will remain to the College Republicans is an outlet to the New Executive Board to use in utilizing every resource available at the State Party.

    I have been involved in the College Republicans since eleventh grade in high school when I was helping the Lazio campaign as Congressman Houghton’s Youth Coordinator. Lazio was a tough lost and it is time for the College Republicans to come together as a unified force to make sure Hillary Clinton knows that her and her family have outstayed their visit to New York.

    However, I am still a College Republican and will remain one until I graduate in May. Therefore, I will be sending out my endorsement of candidates as they are announced over the next couple weeks. I will be making these endorsements as a fellow College Republican and not on behalf of the State Party.

    A year ago, two Executive Boards came up against each other and left the Syracuse Convention with a divided state. It appears that these two former Executive Boards might be uniting in an effort to create the most functional College Republican Chapter in the Nation.

    In response to an earlier comment about Frank Guidice going to Centinello’s level - This is completely false. Frank has always stood up for what he believes in, even to Dan. Personally, I know how hard it is to do this because Dan yells and demands a lot from the people around him, but Frank did. Frank is a good person and I hope that everyone can look past the fact that he was part of Dan’s team and see that he can do a lot for the State Committee.

    My fellow Republicans,

    Over the past 11 months, since being elected to Southern Credentials Representative, and then being asked by Mr. Centinello to step up and be his Executive Director I have learned much about this organization and the people who work in it and those who abuse it. I am not writing this comment to run Mr. Centinello’s name in the ground anymore than it has already been, I feel that as a Republican I am above that. I will leave my personal differences with Mr. Centinello aside and deal with them accordingly when the time comes.

    Since being elected to Southern Credentials in April of 2004, I have worked tirelessly to build up the formerly brushed off region of the South for reasons of it being too liberal. I have come across many great Republicans on college campuses during my short time as Southern Credentials Rep and then as Executive Director. Many of them have recently expressed to me their support for my decision to add my name to those of my colleagues in our declaration. I am overwhelmed by the way the great state of New York has come together, sadly it is under circumstances such as the present.

    In closing, I would like to thank my colleagues on the Executive Board for taking a stand as we did. I look forward to a great friendship after our college days come to an end and even as we move towards that date. To all of the members of the College Republicans in the
