A rumor hit the internet this weekend saying that Saul Anuzis, the Michigan State Party Chairman, is removing state College Republican Chairman Ryan Cassin because of his support for Paul “Lapel Pin” Gourley.
After checking (and double checking, and triple checking) this blog writer stands behind the story. The state that gave us the Model-T, Motown, Eminem, Kid Rock and Gerald Ford is now back in play.
As of this writing, the debate revolves around whether or not Ryan Cassin was removed, or whether or not he was told he couldn’t support Gourley.
Several well-placed sources in Michigan have confirmed that Anuzis will take unilateral action against Cassin in the near future.

As I was in Lansing this weekend it appears as if a rumor started that the Michigan Republican Chair was going to remove Ryan ‘Doogie’ Cassin as MFCR Chairman. This is not true. I have confirmed and double confirmed this. Although I wish it were. The rumor appears to have started with the DavidsonVsGourley Yahoo group. As CRNCChatter would say, its full of “gossip and inuendo.”

My money is on crnctruthcaucus.com. They’ve seem to have gotten everything correct so far. No one knows who they use for sources but they seem to use people with good information. The pro gourley cr veterans blog can’t really be trusted for information. They lack credibility and have really distorted the truth in a big way. Mazanec is nothing more than a blind lackey under the ownership of Hoplin.

Under Michigan bylaws the state party chair cannot remove a CR Chair as they are not directly affiliated. This comes right from state party. Secondly, Saul Anuzis would not remove someone for who they support.

You are incorrect sir. You must refer to the CRNC constitution which refers to the state parties as the arbitor of who is the chair. According to the CRNC constitution it is the state party that decides who the CRNC recognizes as the state chair for the purposes of credentialing on the national board and the convention.

CRNC can say what it wants. The Michigan Republicans have said they DO not have authority to do so. I think anything past that is a moot point.

It’s certainly not a moot point and to state it as such would simply be ridiculous. If the Michigan GOP recognizes a pro davidson chair, for the purposes of the CRNC election, Cassin would have no standing. The MI by laws would have no authority at that point. Let’s hope that Cassin realizes his mistake before that’s even an issue.

Let’s hope that Cassin is a little smarter than Gourley. Why would Cassin go down with the ship with Gourley? Could it be possible that Cassin is dumber than Gourley? At least Cassin is literate.

If I were Cassin I would be calling Davidson right now and making nice. Michigan switching to Davidson will cause Gourley to lose anyway.

Matt Golden who is the 3rd Vice Chair of the party told me today that he has no authority on the issue. Secondly when Jared Maynard was 3rd Vice Chair this precedence really took hold. I guess at this point its going to have to be a wait and see. But I am confident at this point (Being that I am actually in the state and all) that Saul will not act in that manner. Although I wish he would. By the way why doesnt the MI CR identify his or herself.

The rumor is definitely false because it hasn’t happened. If Saul plans on doing something in the future, that’s great, but the rumor was that he already had and that isnt the case.

Actually, the CRNC National Chairman has the final say in who the state chair is. The state party can’t overrule a duly elected chair. Good luck though.

CRNC Constitution, I would expect better. Read it again moron. The CRNC Chairman has to recognize the CR Chariman that is recognized by the state. Article II, Section 3 for those so inclined.

Well, he likes to think of himself as a mafia don…only because he eats and drinks alot and puts motor oil in his hair. But back to the task at hand. Zeus, you are just like your co-hort fat george, in that you have selective reasoning. You don’t like to read the entire constitution before you make judgements…don’t ever become a lawyer…you will suck.
Article 2, section 3 of the finishes by saying that. “in the absense of such recognition by the state chairman of the Republican Party, recognition by the National Chairman shall be determinative.” So, in this case, if Saul didn’t recognize Cassin, Hoplin’s recognition would suffice.
Go eat a cheeseburger with fat george. Once again you were proven wrong!
