Why are you scared of diversity within the party? Can you not be a loyal Republican if you choose not to toe the conservative line on every issue? I think healthy debate is, well, healthy, and should be welcomed, not shunned. Some of us vote Republican in spite of differences on certain issues, usually social ones, and that is what keeps a Republican majority in our government. If these people are the enemy, then I wouldn’t call your website “save the GOP” - instead, “sink the GOP” might be more appropriate.

cw, if you want diversity go join the ACLU. I want my party to be on the right side of the issues as often as possible, pun intended. The GOP represents a clear, well-defined, core set of beliefs. If you find yourself not agreeing with these values then maybe you are not a Republican. I am a fairly tolerant person, and have quite a bit of give and take available when it comes to certain issues. Abortion, the 2nd Amendment, and a few others are lines in the sand though; I ain’t gonna budge, not a damn inch.
I can’t think of a single good reason to allow my ideological foes the resources, clout and endorsement of the GOP.

I found your website via the CRNC thing, and I have read your mission - you’re hard-core conservatives - great. I have no problem with that. I have no problem with people of ideals and passions working hard to promote them. In fact, I revel in it - to me, that’s what politics is. My problem comes when you refuse to allow others who doesn’t pass your litmus test to play in the sandbox. Although I have no experience with RYM, I know the women of WISH through my job (and you would say my job is pretty Republican), and they are dedicated to electing Republicans, which keeps a majority of Republicans in the House and Senate, which then lets us pass things like bankruptcy reform and tort reform. Can’t do that without a majority, and can’t create a majority in some places without opening up the tent.
To Alex - who said anything about fiscal conservatism being a bad thing? I know I didn’t. I would agree that budgets have spiraled out of control, and that no elected official, conservative or not, is against bringing home pork to their constituencies. Most of the budget comes from entitlement spending though, and you can be socially moderate and completely for finding solvency in social security and relying far more on privitization for health care.
To Michael - Your lines in the sand are fine and dandy; mine are different. I think Roe v Wade is terrible constitutional law, but have no problem with states wanting to make their own determinations on abortions allowed in the state. That to me would be what federalism is all about, and what I think Republicans should push for. Yeah to the grassroots people who work hard to change minds and not work through the courts. Decentralized power is a great thing.
In my view, the biggest reasons to be a Republican are national security and keeping the government away from the economy, where they always do more harm than good. If you take a look at my resume I’m pretty sure I have impeccable Republican credentials, but thanks for asking.
I have no problem with them being in the party, but in primaries I will work to make sure the candidates our to the right and stay to the right and am not going to give these liberal organizations (WISH and RYM) a foot hold on our campuses to cause more trouble.

CW,
We’re on the same page on abortion politically. Antonin Scalia has gone before the Vatican and said that abortion would be left up to the states. That’s why all conservatives/libertarians/people who believe in representative democracy should support Bush’s justices to overturn Roe.
When it goes to the States, then the fight shifts a bit.
But you better damn well believe that I will do everything in my ability for the rest of my life to take all cultural/political/peaceful action to save as many lives as possible.
Thanks for bein on our side. Keep using your mind.
