Leadership of the CRNC

Written by Mark Harris on March 27th, 2005

One thing few have hit on for this race is that leadership is essential beyond just the chairman. There must be an understanding that these people are not serving the Chairman but are serving the CRs and they must be fully engaged in the neccesary reform. Independence and willingness to question the Chair from time to time is a healthy part of an organization. I would urge all of the Chair candidates to pick tickets based on who is BEST for the job not who is politically BEST. The CRNC has suffered long enough from political patronage.

Yeah, some state officers could learn from that too.

Just because the State Chair of the Federation is a slobbering boob does not mean that you can’t do your job.

There’s a simple way of initiating communication on your own. I find that “Hi my name is ____ and I’d like to help” is an easy way.

So you are saying that Davidson should pick people who are Gourley supporters for his ticket. Some of them are the most successful in the nation. (Ian Ellis, Jake Grassel, Tom Robins, Dan Schuberth). Would Mike do this?

Minnesota had the largest youth effort in the nation, Ohio CRs were crucial for the President, and Maine was one of only 2 states to go for Kerry but win the youth. Who would you say is the most successful. I think there is a reason Minnesota will have the most votes to the convention, it’s because they are unquestionably the best.

The Minnesota CR’s hate Grassel more than Paul Gourley hates books. That’s a lot.

It is quite the stretch to say that the Minnesota CRs hate Grassel. If they hated him so much why has he been so successful. Why hasn’t anybody risen up against him. Granted, I’m sure that there are a few people in Minnesota that aren’t fond of his leadership, but I bet every single Minnesota delegate goes for his candidate, Paul Gourley.

Coming from Minnesota, I can tell you with certainty that Grassel is hated. The only thing that keeps him around is that he threatens everyone with Hoplin.

You people and your threat conspiracy. That is what you always say when someone you don’t like has the leadership position. I bet there is like one chapter and a couple of people on the fringe that don’t like him. However, from what I’ve heard is that he has a pretty strong base of support that his opposition doesn’t like to think is there. This is politics, nobody is universally liked. With the largest state federation in the nation, I’m sure there is some dissent…that would only be natural. It is like saying since Michael Davidson has a lot of people in California that don’t like him, that he is hated. Get over the fact that you don’t have power and he does and your life will be alot easier. I have seen Grassel work and I know that he will not let his delegates go for anybody but Gourley. He will appoint random people if necessary, just to make sure they vote for Gourley. He is a lot smarter than you give him credit for. I have been with him at a lot of national events and have seen him work.

He did a stellar job at CPAC. Look at all of the momentum that he handed to Davidson. I wonder if he is so powerful that he is secretly working both camps. wow.
