CRNC D-Day: Tommorow
Written by Mark Harris on April 10th, 2005Well the rumors all around the CRNC circle this past weekend have been about the Gourley campaign declaring victory tommorow saying they will have over 90 committed delegates. Rumored states include NJ and GA plus some others. Having crunched the numbers myself find this scenario highly unlikely as Gourley would have to pick up multiple states that had been rumored to be leaning against him as well as holding on to all of his states.
The Davidson campaign officially recieved the Missouri endorsement and has also claimed to have several others in the works for early this week. If they are telling the truth it will be hard for anyone to push this race over the top before the convention, not to mention the likelihood of defections of delegates once they actually reach the floor. We’ll wait to see the Gourley announcement tommorow, but would be shocked to see the Gourley campaign mount an insurmountable lead.
Rumors also have it that the Gourley campaign has been trying to peel off state chairs Brad Smith (MA) and Tyler Matthews (MT) from the Davidson campaign with national ticket spots, but both have reportedly turned down the advances.
Doing a little number crunching with some inside tips I currently have
Gourley: 64
Davidson: 57
Undecided: 50
This includes some states which are to be announced by both sides in the next couple of days, and I still can’t get Gourley or Davidson to the 86 delegates needed to win. Guess we’ll find out tommorow.

There have been talks between state chairmen in the midwest in regards to pulling out of the CRNC regardless of the election. The idea is to file an injunction against the CRNC prohibiting it from using the “College Republican” name, and to form a regional committee away from DC.

Shut up asshole. The fact that you would be willing to rip this organization to pieces because you didn’t get your way shows what kind of person you are.

The CRNC actually has a copyright on the name College Republican.

Gourley never offered MT a ticket spot. Massachusetts, yes, Montana no. It was all a rumor.

Steve,
Talk to Tyler Matthews and he will inform you that he did indeed get an offer from the Gourley campaign. In addition, I heard that certain people on the Gourley campaign were pissed off that they would get bumped off of the ticket because Brad Smith and Tyler Matthews. Dan Schuberth has been stumping around the country, and would most certainly lose his spot to Brad Smith.

I’ve heard that certain new members of the DC Fed Executive Board want to revisit the issue of supporting Gourley.

I have firsthand information that these rumors are *correct* in the sense that Gourley is TRYING to declare victory on Monday.
Paul seems to have Virginia’s “endorsement” but only half the delegation actually supports him.
However, both sides are faced with an interesting situation as Gourley himself cannot actually get all of those states that he has been promising and at the same time, his opponents at the blogs can’t stop him from claiming at least some of them.
But the bottom line is that Gourley wanted all of those states and won’t be able to get them. And the ones that he does get are divided.

Michael, you probably do read these blogs. If you are, you NEED to fight Paul’s psychology game. Paul Gourley *only* *has* *some* delegates even in these states that have endorsed him.
Michael really needs to fight back on this and make that absolutely clear.

How did Gourley get Georgia? Alex, is Britton still in charge down there? If so, what the hell is he doing? Who in GA voted on this stuff?

it doesn’t really matter if he “has” “some” delegates in a state, the chairman will cast all of the votes at for his state.
