Gourley Implosion?

Written by Mark Harris on April 13th, 2005

Big developments in past hour, both are highly unconfirmed. I am working to dig more into this:
1. Mississippi seems to be still in contention
2. New Jersey may be up in the air as rumors are circulating over some dubious activities earlier today by the Gourley campaign

According to the Joe Biles Blog apparently all is not all right in the state of Mississippi, the following letter was sent out stating that the endorsement by the outgoing chair is illegitimate.

Magnolia State CRs Speak Out (looks like my earlier information was correct):

Dear fellow CRs:

Recently, TJ Harvey sent out a memorandum endorsing
Paul Gourley for CRNC Chairman. TJ did this despite
several emails asking him to hold off the endorsement.
The following are a list of grievances from the
Mississippi College Republicans against TJ Harvey.

He has withdrawn himself from contact of CR chapters
around the state.
After disappearing from contact for months, TJ
reappeared this week and endorsed Paul Gourley over
the objection of over 50% of the state officers as
well as several chapter chairman.
He scheduled a convention giving less than two weeks
notice AFTER the date of classes ending at several
member schools
He has lost the support of his home school
He has not called for a state executive committee
meeting since the November election.
He was routinely late or absent from state executive
committee meetings prior to the November election.

The vast majority of officers and chapter chaimen do
not recognize TJ’s leadership as chairman. His
endorsement does not speak for the state of
Mississippi.

Mississippi supports Michael Davidson. A defunct
chairman who no longer has the support of the CRs,
supports Paul. Disregard TJ’s statements. He does
not speak for Mississippi.

Sincerely,

On the New Jersey front rumors are circulating that the Gourley campaign lied to the incoming chair about several different situations confirmation has not been reached but it looks like things are going to get interesting very quickly.

As a testament to how great Paul Gourley’s campaign is, Michael Davidson supposedly heard about the big Gourley lie in NJ from like 3 people by noon.

New York, under new leadership, will switch their support to Gourley

Very likely, considering the CR Vets have NY in the Davidson column.

As long as Langworthy is in New York, New York will be for Davidson.

Gourley didn’t lie to the incoming NJ chair. That’s like suggesting he would send misleading fundraising letters to 85 year old people !

    Dapper Don,

I’d check your facts, because Mike Backus, Chairman of the New York College Republican State Committee, endorsed Davidson. http://www.yourcrnc.org/endorsements

Scott, given that your IP address is coming from within the MN Republican Party, I wouldn’t trust what you say either.
