Why I love college

Yesterday morning I was sitting in my Arabic class when my professor told us that we could talk about anything we wanted in Arabic. A classmate of mine, a prolife Democrat, started saying how he didn’t like the new Pope because he was conservative. I responded by saying the only reason he didn’t like the pope was becaue the New York Times had brainwashed him and that the New York Times hates the pope because it hates Catholics.
After that comment, the rest of the class couldn’t control itself. One girl responded by saying that Fox News hates Muslims. My teacher said that Fox News is as radical as al-Jazeera. Then everyone continued to mock the “Nazi” pope and talked about how he supported the “cult” of Opus Dei (which of course they had all learned about in The DaVinci Code).

They don’t like the Pope because he is Catholic. But what else is new? Catholics have been hated since Peter was killed by the Romans. Not a whole lot changes in the course of 2000 years.

I’ve often been jealous of pro-life Democrats, at least they know they’re getting screwed by their party 24-7, rather than just always having a sneaking suspicion.
