Credentials Meeting… The Plot Thickens

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

After doing some more digging things get very. Corrine Schwartz the Chair of the committee had no knowledge of the meeting be called until today, even though certified letters went out to all the members a few days ago for a May 31st meeting at the Crystal City Marriot. Moreover, the scheduling of the meeting for a Tuesday seems dubious as most of the members have jobs and making a weekday meeting could prove challenging.

Section 9 of the CRNC Constitution:
” (Documentation of eligibility) To be eligible for delegate votes (other than a delegate vote that my be cast by a CRNC national officer), a state federation must submit the following documentation……..”

Apparently NY, IL, and FL might have failed to file according to these guidelines so the meeting may be about throwing their delegates out. Ironically, or not, all six are pledged to Davidson.

I am trying to reach Brian Mazanec to try to get to the bottom of this, though I suspect it should be fun times had by all ::sarcasm off::

How about next time we follow the law?

Kerry

I guess running ads against hack RINO Senators from states that aren’t actually islands isn’t the only thing John Kerry is tapping the war chest for. This seems just a little out of line.

I shouldn’t care, I sure didn’t give him any money, but if I had then I’d be grateful that at least they weren’t Yankee tickets.

Chafee Daze

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

-Please read this article and try and explain in fewer than 500 words why Chafee is not a douche.

-Apparently he’s not liberal enough for one Vietnam Veteran. This comes from John Kerry News, which promises “articles from around the world focusing on John Kerry”. No, I’m serious. Go barf in the sink and then come back and finish reading. Anyway, apparently John Kerry is using part of his absurd amount of money left over from ‘04 to try and convince Sen. Chafee to vote against John Bolton.

Credentials Committee Meeting

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

Chairman (Don) Hoplin has called for a Credentials Committee Meeting May 31st in Arlington, VA. TruthCaucus says that it may have something to do with tossing out Florida’s two votes b/c the outgoing state chairman failed to submit credentials. Very unsubstantiated. I will report as I hear more. Though if it is true they are tossing Florida’s delegates then I fear this race will explode to a level that none of us want to see.

I hope everyone keeps the CRs best interest in mind and doesn’t try to pull under the table deals for either side.

UPDATE:
Credentials Committee Members
Scott Darnell, Jake Grassel, Ian Ellis, Brian Mazanec, Cade Cole, Erik Rapprich, Dan Centinello
One empty spot that needs to be filled for the West, due to Michael Davidson’s resignation when he announced he was running for Chairman.

With Mazanec (Gourley supporter but honest guy), Rapprich, and Centinello on the committee I am not sure how shady they can really get, at least I hope.

What happend to Free Speech?

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

Drudge has posted a news story about an event Ann Coulter spoke at where she was met by peaceful guardians of free speech leftists who had to be taken away in hand cuffs. This just makes me sick, but shows how hypocritical the left has become. The left is no longer capable of engaging in the war of ideas.

RINO Hunting: Lincoln Chafee

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

Meet Steve Laffey… Bret Schundler + Pat Toomey = Victory?

Lincoln Chafee appears to be running for re-election, but his campaign account only shows $765,498 cash on hand after the first quarter, not a strong showing for an incumbant running in what will be a seriously up hill fight. Mayor Steve Laffey has begun letting people know that he will likely challenge Lincoln Chafee in a Republican Primary to the right. Laffey appears to be built in the model of a Bret Schundler, mayor of a who has been a solid conservative but has the populist credentials to run statewide. Laffey won his re-election to mayor with 65% of the vote and is regarded as extremely popular.

Sadly, national Republican leaders have begun the game of telling him to run against the incumbant at his own risk saying that only Chafee has a chance to hold the seat. (Obviously they haven’t seen Chafee’s re-elects with border on the abysmal.) A Chafee-Laffey primary would be another fight pitting the RINOs + The Establishment (Bushies) vs. The Base. Laffey would definitely have a shot and if he won the general would be an obvious improvement over the uber RINO Chafee.

The big question is whether or not Laffey could win the general election. So far the only declared Democratic candidate is Secretary of State Matt Brown, and with Schumer pushing pro-life Congressman Langevin out of the running it means the Republicans could likely be competitive with Laffey who doesn’t have a lot of the personality issues that have plagued Chafee of late. Either way, Chafee re-elects (in the mid 30’s according to the DSCC, admitedly a biased source) are so bad its worth a shot.

Laffey for Senate!

Sherwood Admits To Affair… Sort of.

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

This story keeps getting odder.

Now he is “sorry for the pain he caused his family”

“I’m truly sorry. Now, I have work to do. I’m going to continue to work hard for the people of the 10th Congressional District, and to begin the healing process with my family.”

Sherwood, 64, did not explain his relationship with the woman or say why she was in his apartment. He has called her a “casual acquaintance.”

The woman, Cynthia Ore of Rockville, Md., says Sherwood has been her lover since 1999.

“When I met him he told me he was getting a divorce,” Ore has said.

Last week, the Times Leader exclusively reported her story about calling 911. She said she made the call on Sept. 15 after Sherwood “choked her for no apparent reason” while giving her a back rub at his apartment on D Street, according to a police report.

“He never did get a divorce,” Ore has said. “He said he has to stay married to get elected.

“For me to start to go back to that day is very painful to deal with all the suffering I went through.” Ore said Tuesday. “I loved him. He always told me he loved me and I believed him.”

Who knows what is true and what’s not… its just weird.
