Defcon 2 : CRNC Thermonuclear War Likely

Written by Mark Harris on May 7th, 2005

Well as this post from CRSpin makes clear, there is every intention of stripping the following states of their credentials:

Alabama
Alaska
Arkansas
Colorado
Florida
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Kansas
Kentucky
Nebraska
New Hampshire
New Mexico
New York
Vermont
Washington
West Virginia
Wyoming

I must get going but all I have to say is that as the parliamentarian points out they are correct by the letter of the constitution, but if this ends up happening I believe it will be pretty much the end for a coherent CRNC. Eric Hoplins term will be known as the one that caused “the big split” or something along those lines. People are likely to sue and counter-CRNC federations to form, this will be an utter disaster for BOTH sides. Again I plead to find some compromise, because if this goes through with the arbitrator and the credentials committee doesn’t unanimously re-instate those delegates, well… I don’t expect the CRNC to survive it. Even usually level headed people I talked to are ready to bring down the house over this, and surely the RNC won’t like the fact that about 1/3rd of the country doesn’t officially have a College Republican Federation. I suspect Mehlman will have to step in to stop this whole process if it goes nuclear.

I have given up on the CRs for the most part. The idea that anyone would pay a lawyer to fight over an organization as dysfunctional as the CRNC is beyond crazy. Let these states split off, let them stay and get shafted. All this is going to do in the end is weaken the CRNC, and local chapters will lose members. Other college organizations will step up to collect the wheat from the chaff. “Party Men” will end up in the CRs and conservatives who love their country more than personal power will end up in some other org.

The CRNC is like being a Georgia Bulldawg fan, even when you win you’re still a loser.

You’re right on, Michael. I think another thing that’s lost in all of this is that whatever happens, the effect on the lives of 99.999% of America will be minimal, and thank God.

It is amazing to see that Hoplin’s term as chairman, which was supposed to be the greatest two years in the history of the CRNC, has degenerated into the largest black mark in the history of the committee.

The auditors wouldn’t have just assigned delegates that were “automatic” of their own free will. Someone had to have instrcuted them to do that, or there is no way they would have. Now they’re changing the rules.
This is the shadiest thing a chairman can do to annoint his chosen one: wipe out the opposition.
Look at the denotation for MI: QLA was told to take them out, while the CRNC constitution (a document jam-packed with conflicts and inconsistencies) specifically gives the state GOP the right to recognize chairmen (which I think is ridiculous). Who wins in that constitutional pissing contest?
Hopefully Corrinne has the strength as committee chair to keep the meeting from destroying whatever little unity the CRNC has left.

Well, what else is there to say. I guess we were correct in our assesment. And that as they say is that.

The same parliamentarian who is saying these states should have no say in the national election set the precedent for the two votes per state in 1999, 2001, and 2003. Some of those were contested elections, too.
    Now he’s changing his mind?

    Kansas?

I am the new state Federation Chairman of Kansas, and I have heard nothing about this. This is not going down like this.

This is fairly obvious, look at the states Gourley lost: all had only 2 votes. Davidson on the other hand lost a lot of his key support. What happened was out going chairmen who supported Gourley in states that will now support Davidson spiked their own states credintials. This is either sloppy beyond belief or it is a hit job. I don’t know for sure, just a hunch, but someone should match a list of out going vs. incoming state chairmen and their respective support against the list of states now without votes. I would not be surprised to learn that nearly all of the states lost for Davidson had a Gourley man responsible for turning in the credentials info. Alex, you would know, check it out.
