Must read for PoliSci Dorks

Friday, May 13th, 2005

If you are a political science dork then you should definitely check out this massive public oppinion study by Pew. I havent’ read through it but Patrick Rufini has and has some good thoughts to share here.

The one thing that seems to be interesting to me is that it pretty much puts libertarian leaning folks as an incosequential group, which would fly in the face of blogosphere logic. Sure Glen Reynolds is insta-angry, but from my expierence on the ground is about right.

Better go vote, eh?

Friday, May 13th, 2005

News out of the frozen North has Canadian PM Paul Martin losing next weeks confidence vote. Anyone should have seen this a mile off, if Canadian politics were much worth paying attention to.

A funny thing over the last couple of years has been the MSM averring as gospel truth that America’s allies will “pay for it back home.” The results? Everyone knows that Tony Blair survived despite attacks against him from the left and right for supporting us in Iraq, even the great Silvio Berlusconi has survived. I personally think the best story is out of Australia. John Howard and the Liberals (Liberals are the good guys in Australia), along with the socially conservative Family First Party, ran on a platform that would do red-state America proud, and won. This despite everything predicted by the American media and punk American college kids who had studied there for a semester.

Meanwhile, Messrs Chirac and Schroeder are floundering as they try and force their citizens to subsume themselves to the European Constitution, a totally absurd document.

CRVetsForSpin Tell Another Whopper

Wow. Wow. Wow. This has gotten out of control, the absolute non-sense that is emminating from the Gourley campaign blog, check this new one out.

CRVetsForSpin Claims:
- Davidson goes over head by sending letter to RNC delegates

Herbert, did you even read the letter he sent? Honestly, cause if you read it then your prelude to it makes no sense at all. The letter is an informational piece. It was simply sending info on the campaing because people requested it. He didn’t ask anyone to twist arms back home, or anything like that. Now let’s be honest and open here. You want to talk about going over heads? Let’s talk about going over people’s heads. Isn’t a sitting Congressman threatening CRs going over heads, what about Don Hoplin letting it be known that opposing Gourley will be a risk to people’s political careers. Selling a ticket spot in Georgia? A state chair deliberately not filing a delegate report because she knew the state was going Davidson? Anonomous threatening phone calls to VIP Davidson supports? Rigged elections and votes in states? You guys muster outrage over an informational letter, yet can’t get angry over this heavy handed cronysim? If you want to get outraged get outraged over this culture of silence nonsense, as opposed to one letter sent out that was an INFORMATIONAL piece.

News of the Day

I’m not sure which is more troubling: this, or this (reg req’d). The two stories are of somewhat the same mold.

Then I came upon this excellent Washington Times article via the Drudge Report. Read the story. It’s shameful, yet strangely believable.
