We’re $%^@ed
Monday, May 23rd, 2005Ben Nelson is the man, but whatever this “deal” is, conservatives will get screwed in the end. Does anyone think there’s a guarantee Barbara Boxer et alia won’t go off the reservation and filibuster SCOTUS nominees despite this? I mean, what are “extraordinary circumstances” anyway?
UPDATE
The Deal has been clarified a bit. We’ll get up and down votes on the three most important nominees: Clark, Brown, and Pryor. I remain skeptical that The Deal will be helpful for future nominees, the Democrats have a funny idea of what constitutes aforementioned “extreme circumstances”.
Huckabee to Run in 2008?
Monday, May 23rd, 2005According to the Huckabee 2008 blog, Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is planning a White House run. Huckabee, a former Baptist preacher, is wildly popular among several corners of the conservative movement and according to the article in the local paper might stand a shot in 2008 as a dark horse.
My thoughts are that he’s too far left on immigration, which I think will be a key issue of the ‘08 primary to stand much of a chance plus coming from Arkansas won’t help him much either. Most recently he’s supported the moderate running to replace him in the primary instead of the conservative candidate and stood up for more squishy pro-illegal immigration positions. Well that’s my two cents, post yours.
Atheist Week in San Fransisco, I’m SHOCKED
Monday, May 23rd, 2005Atheists are tired of being pushed around, apparently, and now want to do “evangelism” to make non-believers more militant in their atheistic stand point. Wow. The SF Chronicle carries the story here.
It’s common to find atheists in such causes as abortion rights and the environmental movements, but they’re not used to advocating for godlessness, said David Fitzgerald, a San Franciscan who will present his multimedia “The 10,000 Christs and the Evaporating Jesus” after the movie.
And they wonder why no one goes to church…
