Coburn Rocks, America in Sad Spot

Written by Mark Harris on May 29th, 2005

Tom Coburn, a doctor by profession (which the senate wants him to stop b/c people actually upholding the citizen legislator thing makes them nervous), held a conference last week on STDs and what America can do at home and abroad to stop the spread of them. Of course Coburn’s answer was commonsense: monogamy. But this is from the Corner:

“You keep mentioning the word ‘monogamy’,” a staffer named Roland Foster recalls one young woman asking after a lecture. “What is that?”

“That’s when you have sex with only one partner,” Coburn responded.

“You mean at a time?”

Coburn is my hero. He is the best example of why human cloning should be made legal.

I had to chuckle at the story when I read it in the WP. You often hear that people working on the hill can’t write at a 12th grade level, but I never believed it till now.

Coburn is quote in the latest issue of Newsweek about his term limit pledge. I think they made a mistake since they said he will not seek re-election in 2011 but wouldn’t that be after only one term? Coburn said he wouldn’t run for more then two terms in the Senate.

Am I right here or is Newsweek?
