“Chinese Century” Ends 95 Years Prematurely
Written by Mike on June 6th, 2005Hilarious, must read.
The “Chinese Century” is already over, political observers said yesterday. It ended about 95 years before it was supposed to a modern record for a country’s unrealized hegemony.
“It actually ended a couple weeks ago,” said Martin Vanderhorst, head of Meaningless Monikers, Inc. “We didn’t get around to notifying Chinese authorities until today. They’re pretty peeved, to say the least.”

Awesome. Oddly enough, what probably was “China’s Century”, 1279-1368 A.D. wasn’t really Chinese at all. Damned Mongols.

Mongols, they invaded as far as Vienna, so will the Chinese one day claim that Vienna was once a part of China too? It is their MO for Taiwan, why not Austria?

There’s a pretty good book on Chinese imperial aspirations, with the rather obvious title of “The New Chinese Empire” by Ross Terrill out of Harvard. It’s especially fascinating the opinion that the PRC holds towards “overseas Chinese”, essentially refusing to recognize that they would have any desire other than to rejoin der fatherland. Lee Kuan Yew lived in perpetual fear that this would be enforced with the bayonette.
Of course, perhaps Eastern Europe will choose Mongol domination as a favorable alternative to becoming part of the ever expanding Maghreb.
