Food Aid to North Korea
Thursday, June 23rd, 2005The recent gift of food aid to North Korea shows that the Bush Administration lacks a fundamental understanding of the entire situation in the region. President Bush has failed, after four and half years in office to accomplish anything, make any headway, or even pretend like he understands what is at stake here. Now we are giving them food, with no oversight mechanism in place to ensure that the food is even going to the people who need it and not the army. What we should be doing is blockading other food imports and convincing South Korea and China to do the same. The handling of this entire affair has been pathetic and I am sick and tired of the incompetence being shown. This food aid is propping up the regime enabling it to exist far longer than it should have. If you want to do something humanitarian starve the country to its knees and end the Communist dictatorship that is in power.
