The British Stand Tall

Monday, July 11th, 2005

The BBC in a bold, defiant move has issued the following guidlines to its reporters:

The BBC has re-edited some of its coverage of the London Underground and bus bombings to avoid labelling the perpetrators as “terrorists”, it was disclosed yesterday.

Early reporting of the attacks on the BBC’s website spoke of terrorists but the same coverage was changed to describe the attackers simply as “bombers”.

The BBC’s guidelines state that its credibility is undermined by the “careless use of words which carry emotional or value judgments”.

Consequently, “the word ‘terrorist’ itself can be a barrier rather than an aid to understanding” and its use should be “avoided”, the guidelines say.

This is not going to get it done my English friends.

Europe’s Biggest Danger: Noise

Monday, July 11th, 2005

Think the UK is a free and sovereign nation? Think again. Apparently the Europe Commision believes that the biggest threat to Europe is noisy cities and those that dont’ get in line will be…. sued… wow what a sad continent, just pathetic.

A Truth Caucus Shout Out

Monday, July 11th, 2005

SaveTheGOP got a little shout out from the Truth Caucus site

Truth Caucus was also boosted by “Save the GOP,” an activist based conservative website that had become critical of the CRNC and its questionable tactics. The website, founded by Mark Harris and Alex, intensified the light of criticism on the organizational wrongdoing.

Thanks, TC. Though I think I speak for most of us on the responsiblity movement in saying if it weren’t for you and your work a lot of the seedy underpinnings of the CRNC never would have come out.

The Coming dePopulation Bomb

Monday, July 11th, 2005

For years the left has warned about a “population bomb” that would cause a monumental world crisis as the planet could no longer handle the population and would collapse. Well, it seems today, we do face a population crisis but the exact opposite of the one they warned about. We are in serious danger of depopulation. Now for environmentalists who dreamed of zero population growth, negative population growth is a dream. For those of us interested in mankinds future, the continuance of Western culture, etc though it is a nightmare.

I was flipping through old copies of First Things and came upon this fantastic, yet chilling, blurb on this growing problem.

The average fertility rate in Western Europe is a dismal 1.4 children per woman, ranging from 1.8 in Ireland and France to 1.2 in Italy and Spain. This is what a 1.4 fertility rate means for Germany: “Germany could shed nearly a fifth of its 82.5 million people over the next forty years—roughly the equivalent of all of east Germany, a loss of population not seen in Europe since the Thirty Years’ War” which ended in 1748. Western Europe is losing approximately 750,000 people a year.

Economist Robert Wright of Stirling University (Scotland) warns of a “demographic time bomb” because of “a precipitous fall in the fertility rate” in Scotland, now below 1.5 children per woman. The current population of over five million is expected to decrease by more then 20 percent by 2041. A recent survey showed that over 40 percent of highly educated Scotswomen aged forty-five to forty-nine were childless.

The problem isn’t just confined to Europe though but touches China, Canada, Mexico, and many many other countries with precipitously falling birth rates. In fact the article noted Mexico is aging three times as fast as the United States. The US is around a 1.99 birth rate, but that’s still below the 2.1 needed to maintain the population.

With large swaths of Europe returning to nature and much of the population there choosing to have one or zero kids, combined with the influx of Muslim immigrants means that Europe is in the most precarious position of any of the regions of the world (excepting of course the catastrophe that is Africa, but there the solutions are not as clear cut as in Europe). The US with some minor adjustments could be back on the right track, but if the Muslims in Europe begin flexing their political muscle major decisions will have to be made that will decide whether the past 15 years of peace and freedom in Europe were the exception or the rule.

Steyn’s view on terrorism

Monday, July 11th, 2005

Mark Steyn has a great take on the terrorist bombings and how to judge its success. I believe this is a true test for England and it is the voices and worldview communicated by Steyn that must be embraced if the British are to overcome the tyranny of our time. Let’s hope they still remember some of their history. My favorite remark from Steyn is this;

“a defensive war against terrorism will ensure terrorism.”

Pure Pwnage

Monday, July 11th, 2005

EDIT: I have written a response here to those of you disputing our right to use the term ‘pwnage’ on this site.

What happens when Ron Reagan Jr. gets into a debate with someone who is vastly more intelligent than he could ever hope to be? Well, just watch the video courtesy of The Political Teen. Or read the transcript at Radio Blogger. From Discarded Lies:

RR: Christopher, I’m not sure that I buy the idea that these attacks are a sign that we’re actually winning the war on terror. I mean, how many more victories like this do we really want to endure?

CH: Well, it depends on how you think it started, sir. I mean, these movements had taken over Afghanistan, had very nearly taken over Algeria, in a extremely bloody war which actually was eventually won by Algerian society. They had sent death squads to try and kill my friend Salman Rushdie, for the offense of writing a novel in England. They had sent death squads to Austria and Germany, the Iranians had, for example, to try and kill Kurdish Muslim leaders there. If you make the mistake that I thought I heard you making just before we came on the air, of attributing rationality or a motive to this, and to say that it’s about anything but itself, you make a great mistake, and you end up where you ended up, saying that the cause of terrorism is fighting against it, the root cause, I mean. Now, you even said, extraordinarily to me, that there was no terrorist problem in Iraq before 2003. Do you know nothing about the subject at all? Do you wonder how Mr. Zarqawi got there under the rule of Saddam Hussein? Have you ever heard of Abu Nidal?

At this point Ron ignited into flames.

Thailand at War

Monday, July 11th, 2005

The War against Radical Islam has intensified recently in Thailand. I spent a week in Bangkok at the beginning of July and while the newspapers seemed to constantly mention the conflict in the southern provinces bordering Malaysia, most of the locals seemed not to be too worried that 790 people have been killed and 1,217 wounded over the past year and half.

Some 517 of the dead were classified as civilians, 83 were police or soldiers, and 190 were Islamic militants or demonstrators killed in clashes with Thai security forces, the national police office said in a statement.
The police figures also showed 1,217 people wounded from the attacks, which included 507 ambushes of police and civilians, 264 bombings and 551 arson attacks on schools, government buildings, checkpoints and phone booths.

America is Stingy? Guess Again.

Monday, July 11th, 2005

I am sick and tired of hearing about how Americans don’t care about the rest of the world. I am particularly tired of hearing America being called a “stingy” nation as it was in the aftermath of the tidal wave that struck South East Asia. Now Geopolitical Review has an excellent post up on just how much more generous Americans are than those stingy, elitist Europeans.

Among the many faults with this mischaracterization, the largest was the fact that only government aid was incorporated into this superficial analysis. Little or no consideration was given to donations made by private citizens, which in the United States dwarfs that of the federal government (as if there is even a valid moral comparison between the government distributing other people’s money and private citizens choosing to donate their own income). Now a Hudson Institute report reinforces this flaw in the foreign aid discussion and reveals that in terms of donations to Africa, private donations by U.S. citizens outstrip their counterparts in Europe 15-1:

Read the whole thing, especially the part about how “red” states are far more generous than “blue” states, despite having less to give. Now is anyone even surprised at that? Leftists always project their shortcomings (not being generous among them) on others; don’t let them.

Race Against Time

Monday, July 11th, 2005

Britain it seems has actionable intel that would indicate that the same men who launched the attacks on London’s public transit infrastructure are alive, in England and planning another assault.

BRITAIN’S terrorist alert has been raised to its highest-ever level because the London rush-hour bombers are alive and planning another attack, The Times has learnt.
Security services, military and police are on “severe specific” alert — the second highest status and higher than after the September 11 atrocities — after it emerged that the terrorists who killed as many as 70 people were not suicide bombers.

UPDATE:

This story as yet is unconfirmed by the MSM(story is from MSM outlet New Zealand Herald), though it has not yet been debunked either. Two suicide bombers were gunned down by the London police in Canary Warf (London’s Wall Street) on Thursday. It would seem Londonistan is at war.

War on Radical Islam II

Monday, July 11th, 2005

We lost a battle recently in Afghanistan. The Taliban remenants and Al-Qaeda handed us our ass in the alpine forests of North East Afghanistan. This was the worst defeat in Navy SEAL history and the worst so far in our combat operations in Afghanistan.

THE first sign of trouble was a radio message requesting immediate extraction. A four-man team of US Navy Seal commandos had run into heavy enemy fire on a remote, thickly forested trail in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan.

Trouble turned to disaster when a US special forces helicopter carrying 16 men was shot down as it landed at the scene, killing all on board. Almost two weeks later, a mission that led to the worst US combat losses in Afghanistan since the invasion in 2001 has turned into an extraordinary manhunt. It has also opened an intriguing new front in the coalition’s battle against terrorism.

The last piece of the puzzle has been solved, the body of the missing Navy SEAL was found by the 300 man search and destroy mission combing the slopes in Kunar Province.

I have no doubt that the left will be calling for us to quit the “quagmire” in Afghanistan, but that is typical fare for them since 2001. I am confident that the Navy and the rest of our forces fighting in the region will be itching to go back in and slay as many of these guys they can get their hands on. Look for a major search and destroy mission to be launched in the coming days.

UPDATE:

Here is massive meta post from Arthur Chrenkoff at the Winds of Change chronicling all of the good things that are happening in Afghanistan. I highly recommend at least skimming through it if you have time.

War on Radical Islam

Monday, July 11th, 2005

Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) has recently returned from a tour of Gitmo. He offered the following observations:

“They have a Muslim menu down there of 113 dishes,” said Roberts, chairman of the US Senate Intelligence Committee.

“I saw them playing soccer. I saw them playing ping-pong. I saw them playing … I think it was volleyball,” he said.

US camp guards “strictly observe with reverence all of the prayer calls, five times a day, 20 minutes,” he said.

“And in regards to the health care, my word, they have better health care than many of my small communities in Kansas.”

According to Roberts inmate treatment there “is carrots, not sticks. We are treating people humanely.”

Meanwhile the US soldiers guarding the inmates “are getting very rough treatment from some of these detainees — and I don’t call them ‘detainees,’ I call them ‘terrorists’ — throwing excrement at them and everything else.”

The US guards “are more worried about what’s happening in Congress in regards to their future than they are the terrorists,” Roberts said.

Sounds like torture. The response from the left will be predictable, “Well they cleaned it up now that we have shone the light on how brutal it was!” Look folks, we can do no right. We are evil, we are the bad guys . . . always. There was torture at Gitmo, and there is nothing factual we can do to change the left’s mind about this. The best course of action is to forget it and go on doing the right things while ignoring the traitors in our midst. Believe me, the time will come when we will deal with them.
