CRNC Website

Monday, October 10th, 2005

Well the new CRNC website is up. As a guy who does web stuff more or less for my job let me share my thoughts:

1. Flash- Am I the only one who is just annoyed by Flash? It always seems to take forever to load and distracts from the navigation. Now I know that Flash is now the norm of the web, so I may just be behind the times but the banner on that page is very annoying. C-

2. Navigation - Simple navigation, well designed, A+.

3. Look and Feel - I like the look and feel, now CRNC Chatter says it is a pre-bought template. If so they did a good job of picking a decent template. A

4. Information - There is nothing on the page that is really informative. I am hoping they will begin a build out. C

One major question I have is whether or not this is tied into a membership database. If this is simply a flat site with a nice template and CMS then I could have done the site for them for a lot cheaper than they likely paid for it, heck they could’ve bought one off the shelf and brought it online in a day or so if there is no membership database tie in. The College Dems site is still way better than ours. Only time will tell, I will say this is a big improvement and I like the look and feel (minus the Flash header).

Kilgore Said What

Monday, October 10th, 2005

CORRECTION: I misread the article somewhat in my original post, which is found below, but I believe the larger point about Kilgore remains the same. From an outsider looking in view of the race he appears to be one of the dozens of over-polled, over-consulted candidates who is saying the catch phrases that poll best. I am just not impressed. That being said I unfairly jumped on him, but still my general point remains germane.

I nearly spilled my coffee this morning at the airport (flying back to DC from Atlanta) when I read this little diddy on the Corner.

Kilgore DOES NOT rule out tax increase

How do these people continue to operate like this, the GOP alwaysseems to find these moderate, wishy-washs to run for office. Kilgore backtracked on Roe v. Wade and now isn’t sure that he might not have to raise taxes. How about CUTTING TAXES!?! Is that too much to ask?

Kilgore has been falling like a rock in the polls, and I wonder why. Maybe people don’t want to support Democrat-lites. Jeez.

For Those Of You Who Think Save The GOP Is “Out of Touch”

Half of Senate Republicans doubt Miers
H/T: Drudge

Well this is begining to look like a seriously bad spot for Bush, when even Liddy Dole, perhaps his biggest cheerleader is on the fence things are seriously awry.
