Let’s Talk About John

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

Since some people got their panties in a twist over my previous post and accused me of diminishing McCain’s contribution to fiscal conservatism in order to prop up Coburn, I thought I would post up this very informative Web site. OnTheIssues is extremely detailed and thorough. McCain is clearly a bag of mixed goods.

Could John McCain be an affective President? It’s hard to say. The man has quite a bit to answer for, beginning with his gross impediment of the First Amendment in the form of Campaign Finance Reform. His most recent “torture ban” was just another piece of fodder handed to the left to bash our President with. I also recall roughly a year or so ago when he threatened to halt work in the Senate in order to force them to consider a bill creating a national commission for professional boxing.

My own opinion of McCain is that he has become addicted to the glitter and glamour of being the constant face in the media and I just don’t think the man is quite all there. The fact that he appeals to so many Democrats should also make conservatives worry. But judge for yourself. Check out his record here.

Twenty Four Hours

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

With less than a day left until the House leadership election, things have really reached a head. Rumor on the street is that Blunt is flat lining unable to get to the majority he needs, which is good news for Boehner and Shadegg. But, also unfortunately it looks like a lot of his private support is solid, which could mean he is still above the 50% as he claimed he is. It all comes down to the question if Boehner/Shadegg can force a second ballot, if they do then Blunt is toast.

My prediction is Blunt, very sadly and probably to the death of our majority, wins in a squeaker with Boehner in second and Shadegg in third. Not what I want but I think in the end these guys don’t see the writing on the wall at all.

McCain gets behind Shadegg

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

This is not too surprising since McCain is also from Arizona, but still McCain support for Shadegg will be a big boost. McCain is getting some points with me for his vocal stance against earmarks and his support for Shadegg. We have got to get this guy in.
