Students4Allen

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Just did an interview here on the floor with Chris Finnigan, National Director, of Students4Allen (can we just start using the words instead of numbers, but I digress…). The audio is below but it was clear that Allen is maneuvering behind the scenes to setup all the structures he needs to make a succesful presidential run.

He is speaking at the dinner tonight, but is not making the rounds shaking hands, which to me seems like a major mistake. If I were his folks, I would have him out glad handing these CPAC folks, they are the ones that make the party work and he will need them in the primary.

Anyway, here is the audio of the interview.

Heard on the floor…

“Wouldn’t it be great to have 100 Tom Coburn’s in the US Senate”
-John Cox, Founder of RestoreTrust.us

Here is the audio of his speech. Unfortunately, a vote was scheduled on the floor so the interview didn’t happen.

Rick Santorum destroys Hillary

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Wow Rick just took Hillary out to the woodshed on partial birth abortion. He is on fire.

If only all party people were like this…

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

I just talked to Saul Anuzis, the Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. He made headlines last year after removing Ryan Cassin as State CR Chair because of his support for Paul Gourley. I talked to him for a few minutes regarding some of the various primaries going on in his state - and he said that while he is supporting incumbents (such as Joe Schwarz), that he unequivocally supports open primaries and has not and will not use his influence as state party chairman to prevent them from occurring.

That takes guts. If all state party chairs were like this, then our mission of Saving the GOP would be a lot easier.

The Condinistas

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

I interviewed the National Chairwoman of “Americans for Dr. Rice”. She is heading up the Draft Condi movement. She dipped and dodged on the life issue, as you can hear on the audio link below. She again was focusing on the Bush-esqe point that “Condi can win” and the inability for “extremists” to win.

The problem is that they are rallying around the persona of Condi not actually issues that are going to move our effort forward. I’ve been impressed by their presence hear and all the Condi buttons, but when push comes to shove I don’t think this party is going to nominate a pro-choice, Bush linked candidate. What say you, Save The GOP readers?

Randy Graf For Congress

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Just did an interview with Randy Graf for Congress, he did a good job talking about his race and why our previous article about him, which he had read, was incorrect. He displayed an impressive grasp of the issues and I think that he could be the guy for movement conservatives in this race. More still needs to be known of course. I was slightly disappointed that he only has $30,000 cash on hand, but he claims endorsements from half the state legislature and Congressman Franks.

Audio is here to judge for yourself.

Immigration Debate

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

“Guest worker programs are the nigerian email scam of America”

The talk so far has been about how guestworker programs create a stratified and divisive society. I think it is interesting that the speakers are focusing on how bad the programs are for immigrants. A “compassionate” conservative take on the issue.

Tom Tancredo

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Tancredo is speaking now, and he made an Abramoff joke… LoL.

Immigration is the topic of conversation this morning, but it should be an interesting to see the crowd reaction. This group of folks is usually on his side.

I have a tremendous ammount of respect for Tom, because I think he has just been a very brave advocate for what he believes in, even if I am not 100% on his side. I do think though that he is fighting a fight that needs to be fought.

Yes, now he’s talking about how wrong the $700m Katrina “slush” fund.

Tancredo calls for:
*Repeal of prescription drug benefit
*Repeal of No Child Left Behind
*Repeal of agriculture / higway bill

Here at CPAC this year. Registration was a mess but now am on “Bloggers Corner” and on the roll. Stay tuned for up to date information. Up today is immigration, war on terror, civil liberties, Rick Santorum, et al.

Also for those interested in the Rhode Island Senate race I am talking to Andrew Morris of Anchor Rising. Apparently there is a new Brown University poll out on the race.
