Toomey Endorses Harris (and Others)

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Ok so now is time for my uber-shameless plug. This weekend at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, former Congressman Toomey (my political hero) endorsed me in my campaign for State Representative. It honestly was one of the proudest moments of my life that a hero for the modern conservative movement was supporting me in my effort to change the state.

What Rep. Toomey said that actually made news though was his endorsement of Eichelberger and Folmer for their respective State Senate seats against entrenched and very powerful liberal Republicans. The act of bravity and integrity by Rep. Toomey to get involved in these races when no one else will risk their political behinds is something to be truly respected. For all of the criticism that have been lobbed against Toomey the charge of political opportunist that Specter threw out had to be the most rediculous, and this action proves it. Toomey stuck his neck and political future on the line for two soldiers on the field fighting for freedom. As such, we need people all across the country but especially in Pennsylvania to stick their necks (and pocketbooks) out for freedom.

Below I have links to the “Four Horsemen” (the nickname that has been given to a few conservative insurgents in the state) and other solid conservatives that are fighting the good fight here in PA to protect and defend the deposit of liberty left by our forefathers.

Personal Library At Taxpayer Expense

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Wow, this article about the PA Legislature reminded me why I am running. Basically as a sumation for those of you who don’t want to take the time to read the article a legislator Rep. Cohen (D-Philly) charged $28,200 worth of BOOKS at taxpayer expense.

His defense is that the books helped him be “a better legislator.”

Cohen’s taxpayer-subsidized library shows he’s drawn to the “Social and Cultural Studies” section of bookstores.

There are scholarly works, such as Preachers of Hate: Islam and the War on America; policy books, for example, Comeback Cities: A Blueprint for Urban Neighborhood Revival; and biographies, such as Mark Twain: A Life.

“This is all reality-based. I’m a very reality-based legislator,” he said. “I want to understand, at the best of my ability, the general trends that are impacting on our jobs as state legislators.”ast Left-Wing Conspiracy: The Untold Story of the Democrats’ Desperate Fight to Reclaim Power.

I have a new campaign promise, I won’t buy $28,200 worth of books on the taxpayer dime.

The future of science…

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Courtesy of Drudge we receive news of this:

a few hundred members of the Texas Academy of Science rose to their feet and gave a standing ovation to a speech that enthusiastically advocated the elimination of 90 percent of Earth’s population by airborne Ebola. The speech was given by Dr. Eric R. Pianka (Fig. 1), the University of Texas evolutionary ecologist and lizard expert who the Academy named the 2006 Distinguished Texas Scientist….

Pianka hammered his point home by exclaiming, “We’re no better than bacteria!”

Pianka then began laying out his concerns about how human overpopulation is ruining the Earth. He presented a doomsday scenario in which he claimed that the sharp increase in human population since the beginning of the industrial age is devastating the planet. He warned that quick steps must be taken to restore the planet before it’s too late.

Lest you think this is a just a hoax, check out the professor’s website, a course description outlining his position, and a student evaluation objecting to his statements (you need to scroll down a bit).

What’s frightening is that folks like these will soon enough be considered mainstream as we desert the idea of human exceptionalism. If we become just another animal, after all, where’s the imperative not to kill one another in order to preserve the resources for the rest of us. (Because Prof. Pianka certainly does not intend to lead the world’s depopulation by example.)

Reflections from the PLC

I had the privilege of attending the PA Leadership Conference this weekend and just wanted to make some notes.

1. Rick Still Has The Spark
Rick gave remarks at dinenr and was right on. It was like ‘94 again where you could see the energy. I think this is what will in the end carry him to victory. Though he needs all of our help.

2. Joe Scarborough Rocks!
Joe keynoted the dinner and he was awesome. He just eviscerated, I mean absolutely 100% evisverated the Republican establishment. He started the speech with a great intro few minutes about how he loved Pat Toomey and was so sad to see him lose to Arlen (Arlen’s name drew quite the reaction.

3. YCOPs Got It Going On
Young Conservatives of Pennsylvania, the baby of Chris Lilik, was in rare form this weekend. I think there are a lot more good things coming out of this awesome group of folks. Ryan and Chris really are kicking tail.

4. The Republican Revolt In PA
People are MAD, MAD, MAD. The base has got the pitch forks and the revolution is coming, that was the overall impression of the weekend. Jubelierer and Brightbill’s names were basically mud, and those organizations that had been cozying up to these uber-RINOs over the past few weeks were taking heat from all sides.
