Approval Ratings for All 50 Governors

Written by Sam on April 14th, 2006

Here is the latest approval ratings for all 50 of our governors. There is something that stood out at me right away. The Democrats that are governing in “red” states are overwhelmingly more popular than the Republicans governing in “red” states. Interesting topic for discussion. Any thoughts on why this is?

My guess is that they have to govern in a centrist manner and somewhat independent of their party, thus shielding them from any negative associations with the people on their side.

I am sure some political scientist somewhere has a paper on this subject, but it is pretty fascinating.
