I won’t pretend to know if Allen truly believes abortion is wrong, and if he’d vote to make it illegal in all cases (with the double effect exception.) Certainly there are those of us who have doubts. However, I would say this much: he is definitely anti-Roe.

There is a difference, as difficult as it is to remember in these days of soundbites. One can think Roe was poorly decided without supporting a ban on abortion. You can disagree with it because its an abrogation of states’ rights, or its poor logic on which to justify a federal right to abortion. Regardless, Allen is on record against it.
