Spencer Gets Convention Nod

Written by Andrew on June 1st, 2006

Hillary Clinton never should have been allowed to win in New York in 2000, but she did and we have to live with the consequences. Unfortunately there isn’t a great deal to do about it, and there’s almost no possibility she will be beaten in November. There is good news, however. John Spencer, the conservative candidate for the GOP nomination, won the support of the state GOP convention. Here’s the story.

I don’t think that Spencer can win, but it looks like he’s just the sort of person that will actually take Hillary on rather than playing the Jeannine Pirro “me too!” game.

As one from New York, I can honestly say — Spencer isn’t nuts. He’s a wonderful campaigner and has made some solid speeches. He was the 2 term Mayor of Yonkers as a solidly conservative Republican — that means something since Yonkers has a 2-1 advantage to the Democrats. Spencer’s good and Spencer will be a solid candidate against Mrs. Clinton.

The immigration issue looks like it could be a real hot bed this year. Spencer should capitalize on that and slam Hillary on it. He could pull a decent chunk of votes from her just on that alone.

I don’t know about him being crazy, but I have heard that there are things in his past that make Spencer tough to support. Not certain though.

That’s the impression I had gotten too Alex. Real bummer, because as far as policies go he’s great. As it stands, I cannot wholeheartedly support him.
