DailyKos: Hezbollah’s Biggest Supporter
Written by YellowJacket on July 13th, 2006Who do you think would write a piece with the title, “Imagine a world without Israel,” Americans or terrorists from Hamas or Hizbollah?
…. scary, sad, disturbing, but not at all shocking.

I agree. At the same time, I can’t tell whether their lack of desire to understand the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is rooted in anti-semeticism or a desire for ignorance. So often in our political debates the Left prefers to label stuff “racist,” “homophobic,” etc. By doing so, they render any further thought unnecessary. So they use these code words in order to shield themselves from having to think positions through logically.
Everyone wants peace in Israel. But what happens when the Palestinians reject peace? The Left seemingly can’t bring itself to contemplate this question.

I don’t think it is an issue of anti-Semitism. While some leftists may be anti-Semetic, and the text of the Kos posting certainly suggests such, I don’t think that’s the issue here.
The anti-Israel attitude is an offshoot of the Blame America First ideology. America is portrayed as a warmongering, imperialistic nation for waging war on our enemies who have sought to harm us. Likewise, the leftists take the same attitude with Israel. Why? Because Israel is one of America’s staunchest allies. Bashing Israel for its defensive actions is done by leftists because in their eyes, Israel and America are connected and thus must both be unfairly criticized for self defense. Leftists would be hypocritical to bash our incursions into Iraq and Afghanistan but not Israel’s into Lebanon and Gaza City. They are merely extrapolating their “America is wrong” ideology onto Israel, because of the strength of our alliance.

“not at all shocking”?
I disagree- this may be a new low even for Daily Kos
