GOP Governors Turning Liberal

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

The New York Times has an editorial highlighting the growing trend of GOP candidates campaigning on more liberal platforms in an attempt to be “more appealing to moderate voters.” I know I am an idealist, but I see campaigns as more than just winning elections, it is a battle and debate of ideas. I see the GOP trying to be all things to all people and it irks me. When you do that, you lose the heart and soul, the core of your values. If the GOP truly circled the wagons and embraced their inner core by promoting true conservative candidates, along with the basic principles of cutting taxes, small government, strong national defense, and promoting traditional values, I truly believe the GOP would be resoundingly successful. Reagan proved that this works, yet we see the GOP sell their selves short time and again. I am not saying the GOP would win every election, but it would help us get rid of some of these wimps that are not on our side anyway.
