Indy Star Backs Pence

Pence Pic

The Indianpolis Star has come out swinging for Pence in this editorial. Here are the money paragraphs:

Republicans have been struggling to make sense of their losses this week. The chief lessons they need to accept? Articulating a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished is necessary to win elections and, more important, govern effectively. (Democrats’ theme –”We’re not them” — was enough given the vacuum on the other side). Ethics can’t be pushed aside, no matter how embarrassing the secrets or how high the offenders’ status. Principles can’t be compromised without consequence.

Republicans’ consequence for failing to provide a vision for the nation’s future, tolerating corruption and compromising principles was resounding defeat.

The consequences of two more years under this same leadership will be twenty more years under this same leadership. We might be able to get the majority back with Boehner and the boys, but would it be worth it?

That’s pretty amazing. The Indy Star, a conservative paper when privately owned, went liberal when it was bought. I wouldn’t have expected to see this — it’s no Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
