“We take this very seriously,” said Chuck Christopherson, the department’s chief financial officer. “We know this is something that we can address and that we can fix.”

Chuck, in the real world you would be looking for a new job, but thanks to the marvelous incompetance of government you are actually tasked with fixing this disaster that you have created.

This right here is why I can’t stand President Bush. He was supposed to end all of this waste and outright theft. Instead it is reaching new heights of insanity. Will anyone in the GOP actually call him on it?

I think the first step in saving the GOP would be to identify all the RINOs in the party, then exert influence to challenge them in the primaries.

Could you do a post identifying known RINOs, and list suspected RINOs in the Senate and House who are up for election in 2008?

    Thank You very much.

Here are all of the GOP Senators up in 2008. Identifying the RINOs is inherently controversial, but folks can have at it here.

    Alexander, Lamar

    Allard, Wayne

    Chambliss, Saxby

    Cochran, Thad

    Coleman, Norm

    Collins, Susan

    Cornyn, John

    Craig, Larry

    Dole, Elizabeth

    Domenici, Pete

    Enzi, Michael

    Graham, Lindsey

    Hagel, Chuck

    Inhofe, James

    McConnell, Mitch

    Roberts, Pat

    Sessions, Jeff

    Smith, Gordon

    Stevens, Ted

    Sununu, John

    Warner, John

I would leave the following off of the list:

    Cornyn, John

    Inhofe, James

    McConnell, Mitch

    Sessions, Jeff

    Sununu, John

Just my opinion but I think these guys should be seperated from the rest by the merit of their voting records. In a Senate with more than one Tom Coburn I don’t think you would see these guys fighting tooth and nail for earmarks.

My own Senator Saxby Chambliss is solidly conservative on most issues, but when it comes to shrinking the size of the federal government he has zero interest. I will not be voting for him again in 2008.

I would identify Liddy Dole as some sort of prized-ivory Super-RINO by virtue of her serious mishandling of the NRSC.

Liddy Dole should be one of the top targets for conservatives to knock off in 2008. I will look forward to a day when no one named Bush or Dole has any influence within the GOP.

5 top RINOs (first is the worst)

    1. Ted Stevens (mega spending killing the GOP, pro-amnesty)
    2. Susan Collins (anti-tax cut, gang of 14, big spender, no ANWR) Maine is blue state
    3. John Warner (gang of 14, big spender, moderate on other issues)
    4. Chuck Hagel (pacifist, big spender, pro-amnesty)
    5. Lindsay Graham (gang of 14, pro-amnesty, McCain wannabe, moderate-to-big spender) but best supporter for Samual Alito

next 6-10 (I wouldn’t worry about too much)
    6. Gordon Smith (no ANWR, big spender, pro Emb Stem Cell) but not bad for Oregon
    7. Thad Cochran (railroad to nowhere, pro-Campaign Finance Reform, pro-Emb Stem Cell) conservative on most other issues
    8. Peter Dominici (big spender, pro-Campaign Finance Reform, pro-amnesty) conservative on most other issues (ANWR)
    9. Norm Coleman (no ANWR, big spender, pro-amnesty) but excellant on all other issues (no UN, conservative at heart), thus great for Minnesota. Should be re-elected in 2008!!
10(T). Elizabeth Dole (Chaffe apologist) conservative on all other issues
10(T). Lamar Alexander (big spender, pro-Emb Stem Cell) conservative on all other issues
