A Politicised Judiciary

Written by Benaiah on November 29th, 2006
Summary:

This past election, down here in Georgia, we had a State Supreme Court race that was very partisan. Mike Wiggins ran as a Republican/Conservative to unseat the moderately liberal Carol Hunstein. Traditionally these races are non-partisan but Wiggins ignored this and came out swinging at Hunstein, unfortunately Hunstein had a bigger stick (see add below the fold). This race has sparked debate down here and Some members of the Georgia General Assembly are contemplating ways to pack the courts.

I have felt that the left has used the judiciary for quite some time to inact measures they could not possible get through legislative branches. The left politicised the Judiciary years ago and the GOP is just starting to wake up to this and fight back. I do not necessarily agree with the tactics of the Georgia GOP but I am glad they are finally getting into the game.
