Is Bush the President of Mexico Now??
Written by Sam on March 13th, 2007President Bush, working to rebuild strained U.S.-Mexico relations, promised Tuesday he would do his best to get a deeply divided U.S. Congress to change American immigration policies that are hated south of the border.
“My pledge to you and your government, but more important to the people of Mexico, is I’ll work as hard as I possibly can to pass comprehensive immigration reform,” Bush said during a sun-splashed arrival ceremony that opened two days of meetings with Mexican President Felipe Calderon in this Yucatan Peninsula tourist haven.
He is promising Calderon that he will do everything he can to reform our immigration laws to the approval of the Mexican nation? So Calderon can keep exporting his problems across our border?
You know what? I’m with the Dems. Impeach the bastard.

We get what we vote for. President Bush was never the conservative champion on immigration.

But he is openly violating the soveriegnty of our nation, something few expected of him. To hell with the SOB.

Sam, I completely agree. Anyone who thinks that this liberal buffoon in the Oval Office actually cares about protecting this country is fooling themselves.

Go away. Go teach an English class or something.

I’m surprised you refused to fight for “himself/herself.” What kind of dem are you if you’ll put forward such a sexist phrasing?

I’m not sure if it makes sense to call English our national language either, at least from a legal standpoint.
Nation. Now that’s an ambiguous term.

Wait, I know. How’s Randy Graf doing lately?

Might be right. Was it signed into law?

In addition, the question seems to revolve more over adoption of English as an “official language” rather than a national one. It doesn’t seem like the Inhofe ammendment actually did anything anyway, I still see exit signs helpfully translated into both Chinese: 出口 and Japanese: 出口。 (Sorry, that’s not a very funny joke to most people…there are signs like that all over the place though.)

Actually that is funny as hell.

There, anonymous2525. The statement is now correct and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. So, I put it to you and everyone else else here — is George Bush doing a good job protecting this country? My answer is no.

Mike, care to enlighten the rest of us who don’t know Chinese on you and Woodroe’s inside joke?

The Chinese and Japanese are exactly the same. They use the same basic character system. The Japanese have expanded the Chinese system they borrowed, but for basic signs and such they use the original characters. It is like putting up a sign that says:
English: Stop
Scottish: Stop

Last president to sign an amnesty bill? oh yeah REAGAN! This issue lost us congress and I don’t want us to have another president Clinton because the nationalists want to throw another hissy-fit!

This just makes me mad. And he still does not get why the GOP got their butts kicked.

Illegal immigration did not lose us Congress, Griffin. It may have cost us a few seats on the border, sure, but that is the fault of the GOP for allowing it to build up all of these years. If they had controlled this problem 30 years then you wouldn’t have this huge population of Mexican immigrants living in border districts voting out Congressmen for wanting to enforce the law.
Secondly, it’s not a hissy fit. If they legalize these 12 million people and continue to allow more and more of them in illegally they are going to bankrupt our Social Security system, Medicare, Medicaid, the whole damn infrastructure. You know how they’ll resolve that? Be ready to pay triple the amount of taxes you’re paying today.
I am not willing to risk this country’s livelihood for political gain.
