A Few Polls To Take Note Of

Written by YellowJacket on June 5th, 2007

First of all, Rasmussen has Fred Thompson 2nd among Republican voters nationally (from RealClearPolitics):

Rasmussen released his GOP numbers today and Fred Thompson has vaulted to second place.

Giuliani 23
Thompson 17
Romney 15
McCain 14
Gingrich 9

Second of all, support amongst California Hispanic Republicans has gone down for McCain and up for Fred Thompson and others blasting the immigration bill over the past month (see here). These are Hispanic Republicans, but still, I think this proves a point that the party won’t magically “lose the Hispanics forever” (cue the horror music and hysterics of the GOP Establishment) by fighting to enforce our laws and protect our borders.

That’s all I got today. Enjoy the Republican “Debate” Comedy Hour(s) on CNN and Fred Thompson Against The Man on Hannity and Colmes tonight (see post below).

If Tom Tancredo-types take over the GOP, then you’re right, we won’t lose the hispanic vote forever. Just the next 30 years.

And if the the United States elections become dominated by the Hispanic vote, we lose the country forever — not just the next 30 years.

I don’t understand how simultaneously insulting the GOP’s white base, betraying limited government conservatives, ignoring social conservatives and importing mass Third World immigration is a recipe for conservative success. The GOP is systematically dismantling their majority in both the short and long term. I would suspect Bush, Rove, Mehlman, and the rest are actually left wing operatives, but they seem too stupid to be covert agents.

Joe, I read the article you linked to and I don’t find fault with what Tancredo did. For someone to come into ths country illegally (which last time I checked was a crime), and then have the audacity and stupidity to go public with that and whine about how you can’t get a government handout to attend college in a country you are in illegally, is just asking for someone like Tancredo to request that the INS do its freakin’ job. Give me a break. You really call yourself a conservative?!?

What is the point of creating laws if people like you find it disturbing that we demand they be followed?

Joe….newflash….low-wage Mexican workers do not vote for Republicans NOW! There\’s no votes to lose! Hispanic citizens are just as likely to oppose illegal immigration as non-Hispanic citizens and are just as likely to be Republicans….not the newcomers!

Gceres has a good point. Many Hispanic citiziens also want to stop illegal immigration. Clumsily assuming they want more illegals in the country because of racial solidarity is frankly insulting to them. And if there are people who want more of their tribe in the country for racial or ethnic reasons, doesn’t that mean appeasing them is probably a bad idea long term?

It also appears that many in the GOP need a history lesson. They have bought into the media lie that the California Republican Party has been destroyed in California because of support of Proposition 187. This is so ridiculous that it is AMAZING that this conventional wisdom.

History lesson here: Proposition 187 (cut off all services for illegal immigrants in California except emergency services…until a liberal San Francisco judge nullified the voters) passed with 59% of the state’s votes.

According to the exit polls 64% of Whites, 57% of Asians, 56% of African-Americans and yes 31% of Latinos voted FOR Proposition 187. It won in 50 of 58 counties….ALL the non-winning counties were in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Proposition was designed to deny services to illegals, thus discouraging more from coming and convincing the ones here to leave. It was never put into effect because of low-life liberal judges who think they know better than the people. Since it’s failure to be enacted, my state (California) is now facing a majority illegal alien status and we have simply been flooded.
