NC GOP Re-elects Daves as Chairman

N.C. Republicans overwhelmingly re-elected Charlottean Linda Daves as chairman Saturday, turning back a critic who blamed her for the party’s lackluster performance last fall.

Daves, 61, promised to press the fight against Democrats who control the General Assembly, the governor’s office and most statewide offices.

“We’re going to force the Democrats to look over their shoulder and say, `Man, they’re coming after me!’ ” she told the nearly 900 delegates meeting for the state Republican convention at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Actions speak louder than words so we’ll see if she can deliver. A lot of people don’t realize that North Carolina really isn’t the red state that everyone thinks it is. Yes, they have two GOP Senators and typically goes Republican for President, but the Democrats have held the Governor’s office for close to two decades as well as the State Senate and State House majority.

Is it possible that the difference between “delivering” and “not delivering” means losing by just 2 points in a governor’s race instead of 8 or 9 points? And if so, how should that affect our gameplan?
