Fred Thompson Interview at the Hoover Institution

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

You can watch it here. It is a great interview that covers the world we live in, the political risks Sen. Thompson is willing to take, how he feels about the law and Federalism, economics and taxes, and the future of the war in Iraq and the security of the country in general.
I think it’s important to note here how unique Fred’s non-campaign campaign has been - this is just one of many instances of Fred embracing the online community and forgoing the typical campaign structure, while still appearing on cable television news shows from time to time to further up his name and face familiarity with the American people.

He’s been consistent in his “the Presidency requires a man of the times” message, and has also wisely kept pounding home conservative principles as he sees them without feeling the need to attack the other Republican candidates at this time. He emphasizes the dangers we face, how we have to overcome them, and how detrimental Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or any of the Democrats in the office would be.

In short, Senator Thompson shows an intellectual clarity, historical knowledge, general humbleness, and all-around-gosh-darn-I-like him feeling that I don’t see in politicians very often.

By the way, his website has a blog up now.

Is the DNC worried about Fred?

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Could Fred Thompson garner the Reagan Democrats for 2008? Looks like the DNC thinks so.

Free speech is NOT alive and well within the Democrat Party. The DNC had to close the comment section on their blog post regarding Fred Thompson. In an attempt to bash Thompson, the DNC posted The Fred Thompson “Dummies Guide to Diplomacy”. Check out some of these excerpts from comments from DNC blog visitors. Looks like the Reagan Democrats might feel right at home with Thompson –
