Thompson v. Hillary - a tie

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Rasmussen released another poll today that showed Hillary and Thompson tied at 45% each while Romney trailed Hillary in a theoretical match up 46%-42%. Some other interesting findings were that Thompson has the second most people labeling him as “Highly Favorable” in the entire field. Only Hillary has a higher rating in that category.

Neville Chamberlain Is Back At the Helm

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Recently annointed British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has directed his top staff to not speak the truth to the British people in regards to the War on Terror. In fact, he doesn’t even want them to acknowledge that there is a war against terror and that it is in fact a war against radical Islam.

Brown’s message—in one brief televised statement and a longer TV interview—can be summarized as “keep calm and carry on.” Speaking in the gruff Scottish brogue that is his trademark, he said the country faced a “sustained” threat and urged Britons to “stand together, united, resolute and strong.”

He has largely remained behind the scenes, leaving public briefings to police and senior officials. Brown chaired a meeting of the government’s emergency committee Saturday, but left later meetings to Smith—who as home secretary is equivalent to Britain’s interior minister—and other officials.

The low-key Smith also stands in contrast to her pugnacious predecessor, John Reid, whose tough talk on terrorism was sometimes criticized for inflaming ethnic and religious tensions. In a speech to lawmakers Monday, Smith called terrorists “criminals whose victims come from all walks of life, communities and religious backgrounds.” Brown has spoken of “al-Qaida” attackers but not of “Islamic” or “Muslim” terrorists.

Breitbart

That’s right. There are no terrorists. They are just simple criminals. It has nothing to do with Islam whatsoever. They come from all different religious backgrounds. And then today, this headline appeared in the UK Telegraph

45 Muslim doctors planned US terror raids

What’s more pathetic is that according to the Breitbart article 77% of Britons think Brown is a strong leader. This is exactly why Great Britain has gone from the most powerful nation on Earth, to the largest collection of pansies on the planet.

Enzi Wants to Tax Internet

Thursday, July 5th, 2007
Congress is considering new taxes on Internet sales, Internet connections and even e-mail.The McClatchy newspaper group reports supporters of such action say the government is losing out on huge revenues.

Fox News

The government is losing out on revenue ……………..

I guess a few trillion a year isn’t enough, huh. That statement simply shows how Washington has completely lost the values of a free Republic passed down to us from the Founding Fathers.

Wyoming Republican Senator Mike Enzi has introduced a bill that would require sales taxes on Internet purchases.

He says that he’s just trying to avoid increases in other taxes — such as income or property — that he believes would be necessary to make up for the lost Internet tax revenue.

How stupid does Enzi think we are? There is no reason to raise any other taxes with or without this. Government at just about every level is already too big. The answer is to cut spending, not tax the death out of the last free bastion of communication on the face of the planet.

Enzi is another one up for re-election next year.  If he pushes forward with this, he needs to be sent packing.

New Jersey Poll

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

A new Quinnipiac poll on 2008 in New Jersey shows Giuliani with an enormous lead in the Republican primary.  This is expected, of course.  However, in the General Election he beats both Clinton and Obama and ties Clinton in a scenario in which Bloomberg is involved as an indy.  Interesting numbers.

The Party of Big Business

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

We have heard time and time again that the Republicans are for big business and the Democrats are for the little guy, but that old addage has been antiquated for about 30 years now. An article by Dan Gernstein from Politico reflects that even more.

According to an analysis of the first-quarter presidential campaign fundraising reports done by the Center for Responsive Politics, three-quarters of the $1.1 million that hedge fund managers contributed went to Democratic candidate.

75% of big Wall Street tycoons throwing their money at Democrats is quite an astonishing number for a party that insists their opponents, not they, are the ones for the big fat cats.

The honest reality is that both parties pluck at the golden goose and neither has a monopoly on piggish greed. The Democrats are just better than the Republicans at fooling their base into believing they actually care about the poor and down trodden. What will be more interesting to see is how the Democratic Presidential candidates will fall on the proposed tax increase on hedge fund and private equity managers’ profits. Surely, the D’s want their gravy train to keep rolling in, but if they oppose the legislation, how do they face their constituents?
