Fred Leads The Pack
Written by YellowJacket on September 10th, 2007Is this just a bump due to initial excitement over Thompson’s announcement, or will Thompson have staying power at the top of the field nationally? It remains to be seen, I’d say hold out until we see Thompson in a debate and the numbers following it to get a better guage of just how he is going to impact the race.
For now, though, Game On.

Go Fred go!!!

Wait a week he will be back at 16%.

I just read that, in addition to knocking up his girlfriend in high school, one of Fred’s many marriages was to his cousin.
Trolling for sex partners at your family reunion…there’s class!

Well, time will tell Griffin. He’s been neck-and-neck with Giuliani for weeks now in the Rasmussen poll, so I’m not sure what you mean by “back to 16%.”
As for Publius, you’re really going for the low-hanging fruit as far as reading lefty blogs goes aren’t you? Thompson’s only had 2 marriages - one to his high school sweetheart, the second to his current wife.

well, I think Fred is going to take this poll and keep going up. I just think that Guiliani doesn’t have it. I’m from a NYC suburb and his record here is not so good. The man had one good day. That’s about it. I just can’t see him getting the base all riled up against Hillary, which is what we need in order to win!

My mistake — apologies to Fred.
I just read the biography, though. Did you know that he had a daughter who died of a drug overdose? Seems like Republicans with their family values have a lot more trouble raising kids than the evil Democrats (e.g. Kerry’s daughter is an MD; Jeb’s daughter is a druggie and W’s daughters just drink a lot)

“Getting the base all riled up against Hillary” — nice way to phrase it. Rather than a reasoned forum where people debate ideas, gotta get the people out of their trailer parks to vote Republican because Hillary is a lib commie who wants to have tea with bin Laden!

Oh SNAP, you got me Publius!
… or not, because as far as we know, it was an accidental overdoes of prescription drugs. Sound fishy? Yeah, sure it does, but we don’t know any further about the matter.
But if you really think that you gain any traction with that, good luck. Um, Al Gore III anyone? Do you really want to have a competition about which party has trouble raising kids? Is your ability to discuss politics really that low, that you go for such asinine talking-points?

Projection is obviously very strong with you. Rather than engage in debate, you sling meaningless crap around in an attempt to score cheap points hoping that we’re unintelligent enough to engage you on it.
Then, even though I pointed out your crap flinging, you continue doing it, only this time projecting your inability to pointedly debate and desire only to rile people up onto US!
Man, you need to get a new hobby.

I engage in intelligent discussion with my many intelligent colleagues (of all political stripes). I am more educated that you are or could ever be.
As evidenced by the poor English I have repeatedly pointed out on this website, this is not a forum for intelligent discussion; I would estimate from my experience that you and your colleagues have IQs in the neighborhood of 110. When there are occasional posts here that show some critical thought, I respond in kind. Otherwise, I just stick to my 2-line jibes that are more clever than the sum of your original 100-line post.

No need to lower yourself any more, Publius. Feel free to stick to your brilliant colleagues. Somehow, over the course of many difficult months and years, we’ll find a way to pick up the pieces and move on.

It’s very telling that the only people on this site who ever tout their amazing intelligence and superiority over us mere mortals are the people who regularly engage in gutter-talking and general nonsensical bloviating. Sheesh, some people just need to get outside occasionally. I guess that would be beneath them though, what with all their academic experience.
Any English mistakes in that last part? I don’t give a crap.

I have always been amused by people who trumpet their “education” and yet aren’t smart enough to see the 100 plus years of failures of the Marxist agenda they always try and push on all of us.

Oooh, guess what Publius, I have a degree from a top university too … but unlike you I don’t believe it gives me the right to look down my nose at people.

Ralph Peters (yes, Publius, this knuckle-dragging conservative actually reeds, er, reads… sorry), wrote an interesting column regarding MoveOn.org’s “General Betray-Us” ad.
To summarize, he accuses the MoveOn.org nutters of being “elitist, made up of the same sort of pseudo-intellectual activists who ‘knew’ … what was best for the common people.” The hyper-left look down their noses at any naive conservative hick who would possibly have the temerity (oooh, SAT word!) to develop ideas that run counter to their own perfectly structured theories of how things ought to be.
Rather than debate these uppity hicks, it’s far easier to simply discredit them or dismiss them out-of-hand by insulting their intelligence or impugning their character. This was the strategy behind the MoveOn.org ad. It’s also the modus operandi (oooh, Latin too!) of a plethora of similar liberal groups, such as Media Matters and certain posters over at Kos.
In other words- they’re kinda like you, Publius. Or are you more like them?
Oh, and by the way Pubby, my IQ has been measured in the 140’s. So if you really are such an elitist snob that quantified intelligence is your only criteria for respecting someone, respect me when I tell you to go jerk off to “Barbra Streisand’s Greatest Hits” and leave the debating to the adults.

Measured by whom?
What did you get on the GRE? That’s been proven to be nearly perfectly correlated with an IQ test.

Sam — I don’t know how you came to the conclusion that I’m a “Marxist”. I’m a dyed-in-the-wool market capitalist.
Your childish comment also seems to indicate that you don’t really understand Marx, anyway. Have you ever read “Capital”? The vast majority of Marx’s work has nothing at all to do with communism. His substantive works are basically about the generation and flow of wealth in a capitalist economy, analyzed more carefully than anyone to date ever had. Other than “Communist Manifesto”, which has unfortunately become his best-known work, most of Marx’s work doesn’t involve any value judgements about capitalism or any other economic system. It’s too bad that his substantive work isn’t taken more seriously.
People have done many evil things in the name of the bible, too. That doesn’t mean that the problem is with the bible.
