Ron Paul Leads Republicans in Military Donations
Written by Sam on October 17th, 2007Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Ron Paul have little in common politically, except their opposition to the Iraq war. Both top a new list of presidential candidates receiving campaign contributions from people who work for the four branches of the military and National Guard, according to a study released Thursday by the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics.
The center tallied money from donors who list the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and National Guard as an employer. Overall, these donations are miniscule: Obama got 44 contributions worth about $27,000 and Paul 23 for about $19,300. Republican John McCain, an Iraq war supporter and Vietnam prisoner of war, was third with about $18,500 from 32 donors.
I guess the military doesn’t think he’s a nut either. Each passing day shows us that the neo-con policy of nation building isn’t as mainstream in the GOP any longer.

This data point is so small that it is useless. Paul is a nut.

I guess the Founders were nuts, too, since they thought what Paul thinks.

Perhaps, but you cant argue that all conservative ideology was embraced by the “Founders”. All of the judgemental prying into candidates personal lives would have been disgusted by the “Founders.” And I doubt the “Founders” would have been content to let islamic extremists build huge power bases while looking the other way until it was too late. Plus, the “Founders” were not content with their 13 states, and contiuned to “illegally invade” other lands to “nation build”. But, hey, all hail Ron Paul.

In case anyone forgot, ‘The Framers’ went to war with Tripoli without bowing before the legislative branch and asking permission.

Don’t your friends like Joseph have the foresight to see that the arrogation of power by the executive branch is going to backfire on the Republicans some day? Believe it or not, some day a Democrat will control the White House, and then you’ll be whining about how he/she doesn’t “bow down” to the legislative branch sufficiently.
