Graham Gets Primary Challenger
Thursday, November 15th, 2007Buddy Witherspoon, a long-time South Carolina committeeman to the Republican National Committee, will be announcing this week that he will challenge Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) in the GOP primary, according to a source familiar with his intentions. Witherspoon, an orthodontist, is known as an arch-conservative on social and cultural issues, and plans to run a campaign centered on fighting illegal immigration.
Witherspoon is an unknown within the state, but he has one thing going for him: he’s not Lindsey Graham. It’ll be interesting to see just how far that major asset gets him.
