If by “hokey and silly”, you mean “awesome”, than I totally agree.
Did you guys know that there are over 1,000 of these “ChuckFacts” and that you can get any of ‘em emblazoned on a t-shirt with either Chuck Norris’s face, or Chuck Norris holding an M-16? Capitalism rocks.

I’m not going to lie….I hate Huckabee and think he is a pathetic candidate who is definitely not the “authentic candidate” that Chuck says he is.
That said, this ad is pretty hillarious. Though it obviously does not “contribute to serious debate” or “break new ground”….it’s pretty enjoyable and is definitely better than almost all the other ads put out there so far.
His two words for border security are Chuck Norris… because he is a squish in immigration.

I always love ads like this because they highlight the candidate’s inadequacy. By the end, you’re wondering, “why don’t I just vote for Chuck Norris?” (which assuredly would be better than voting for the fascistic Huckabee).

You guys sound like a bunch of sour old men bitching about the rising price of milk. Its a joke ad, and its funny. It would be funny if Hillary had ran it. Stop acting like a bunch of losers.

WOW! I’m going to vote for him now!
…NOT!
I appreciate the approach, but I don’t find it funny. Actually makes me cringe a little.

It’s a good spot; it’s entertaining and it gets your attention. Mike Huckabee is a principled conservative and a candidate with character unlike the snake in the grass Giulliani.
I liked the ad. I’m not voting for him in the primary, but I thought the ad was humorous and creative.

Add to the Huckabee hate train……
At Weekly Standard….they say his three weakness are:
“Raising taxes as governor, Darwin the faker, last name sounds like village idiot character in a Faulkner story.”
Jonah Goldberg, NR says:
“Indeed, Huckabee represents the latest attempt to make conservatism more popular by jettisoning the unpopular bits. Contrary to the conventional belief that Republicans need to drop their opposition to abortion, gay marriage and the like in order to be popular, Huckabee understands that the unpopular stuff is the economic libertarianism: free trade and smaller government. That’s why we’re seeing a rise in economic populism on the right coupled with a culturally conservative populism. Huckabee is the bastard child of Lou Dobbs and Pat Robertson. “

The problem is you don’t know if it is a joke or not. If it is, it is hard to find the punch line. You can substitute other issues, such as “abortion”, “inflation”, etc. and the ad doesn’t change.
I doubt Dukakis thought him riding around in a tank would make him look less like a commander in chief, but it did.
The issue is serious and Huckabee has not come out with clear policies.
An ad such as this would work for Tancredo. Not for Huckabee.
It is one thing to joke with your supporters, but the primaries have not occurred yet, and if he isn’t taking the election seriously, or the issue of undefended borders, it is hard to take him seriously.
For his supporters I can see how they would enjoy it and find humor in it, but for someone who is trying to decide between him and another candidate in the field, how would THEY take it?

It is hokey — but it might bring him some additional name recognition.
