Sounds like He Has ‘Fire in the Belly’ To Me…
Written by YellowJacket on January 4th, 2008From an email I just received from Fred Thompson about where he goes from here:
Yesterday was an amazing day! We got a ticket to the next dance!
We beat expectations and the “experts” and finished third.
I started on the Iowa bus tour nearly three weeks ago. We barnstormed through more than 50 cities and towns, covering many miles. I visited town squares, diners, fire stations, local newspapers and more.
I took my message directly to the people and they responded…and that’s why we are going on to win this election. After two national debates in New Hampshire over the weekend we will be heading to South Carolina. [emphasis mine]
So much for the “he doesn’t really want it” meme, and the “he’s going to drop out before New Hampshire and endorse McCain” story pushed by the Politico and repeated ad nauseum by other media outlets yesterday, which could have very likely depressed the pro-Fred vote in yesterday’s Iowa Caucuses (though I prefer the RedState term “Hawkeye Caucii”).
The media, of course, couldn’t help itself. Nearly all of the media coverage of the Republican race was focused on Huckabee, Romney, and… McCain. Not 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, but rather 1st, 2nd, and 4th. The media’s refusal to give Thompson’s campaign a fair shake is so far off the charts at this point that it is laughable.

Guess who the MSM fears the most from the GOP?

Guess who went to Iowa and said “No” to ethanol?
Guess who barely pullled ahead of that person??
By the way, why is Duncan Hunter still running?

“That person,” by whom you mean McCain, has gotten a ton of free advertising by the MSM lately. They’ve breathlessly, happily reported his “surge” in NH and have given him his due since he’s given the press the attention they feel they deserve throughout his career.
Guess who pulled ahead of him? The guy who got hardly any coverage by the MSM, because he hasn’t kowtowed to them, and any coverage that was given to him was usually negative and/or inaccurate.

Let us not forget, he told Iowans that he will not endorse ethanol.
Campaigning against yourself is worst than not campaigning.

McCain has the advantage of the MSM campaigning for him. Fred does not. He has the opposite, in fact - the MSM is actively campaigning against him. For example, some FredHeads (or Frederalists) have started a site detailing the Politico’s constant quest to belittle the Thompson campaign:

Granted that.
But he need to get back into the media light to stay competitive. McCain problem with media pales in comparison, since McCain is posing as a hard-core Pro-administration candidate.
To think about it, I have not seen Ol Fred in the media.
With the negatives before they ‘disappeared’ him, I am more suceptible to the idea that he is not campaigning.
I better go to his website to find the truth, since I am subject to follow the pack if I do not…
