Huckabee Wins Kansas Republican Caucus
Written by Sam on February 9th, 2008
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will win the Kansas Republican caucuses, CNN projects.
With 76 percent of precincts reporting, Huckabee had 62 percent of the vote, compared with 22 percent for Arizona Sen. John McCain and 11 percent for Texas. Rep. Ron Paul.
Kansas has 36 delegates at stake Saturday.

Shocker…you mean in a one on one race Republicans don’t like McCain? Wow…shocker :-).

Never thought I’d have to post this…GO HUCKABEE!!!

Apparently McClinton lost the Lousiana primary too and is in a deadheat in the Washington Caucuses…
I thought the liberals in the party told us the Republicans wanted McCain…hmmm?

It’s going to be fun to watch people spin who McCain cannot get a majority of the votes and is actually losing elections AFTER he’s been crowned the nominee by the liberals and the media.
If this does not show an utter rejection of McCain as a candidate I don’t know what does.
GO HUCKABEE!

“If this does not show an utter rejection of McCain as a candidate I don’t know what does.”
Wait… you mean that Kansas, a state that rewrote it’s official definition of the word “Science” so that teaching Intelligent Design would count as teaching science, voted for a Creationist? STOP THE PRESSES!

No I mean Kansas and Louisiana voted against the anointed nominee and looks like Washington State will too and even if it doesn’t, looks like McClinton tops out at 26% of the caucus vote.
Interesting too…so many keep squawking about how McCain was the chosen candidate of the voters and not the apparatus…did some digging through the results last night and do you know that only 3 states…yes only 3…gave McClinton a majority: New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
He didn’t pass 40% in most states. And even after being crowned the nominee, he’s losing states. Pathetic.

Considering Huckabee won most of the other southern states at play along with Arkansas and Iowa, we should not be shocked he won Kansas and Louisiana. McCain ran a strong second in Louisiana like he did in almost every other state Huckabee won previously. I am not going to read much into Kansas seeing its a caucus like Iowa and its the state that seems to want to worship creationism. Huckabee is right up their alley.

LOL…truly incredible….so let’s dismiss Kansas and Louisiana (Kansas is not a southern state mind you)….then let’s rationalize why McCain scored only 26% in Washington State Caucuses….
He’s supposed to be the nominee now! He should be getting 65 to 75 percent of the vote…and he’s losing primaries and caucuses still……let’s see how many other states are disparaged and tossed aside to make McCain’s losses or underperformances not look bad.
These results are an utter rejection of McCain and nothing more.

Y’know Gceres, I can’t blame you for not supporting McCain. And it’s certainly your right to sit out this election in protest. Personally, I’ll stick a clothes pin on my nose and vote for the guy simply because the thought of President Rodham / Obama causes me to fall on the ground and twitch wildly…
But you lost me when you say that you’d rather have Huckabee than McCain. Looking at their records, Huck is WORSE than McCain in several areas:
-Huckabee oversaw a 50-percent increase in state spending.
-He signed a minimum wage increase and encouraged national Republicans to do the same.
-On net, Huckabee increased state taxes by more than $500 million. In fact, Huckabee increased taxes in the state by more than Bill Clinton did.
-He supports S-CHIP; McCain does not.
-The Cato Institute gave Huckabee an “F” for spending and tax policy in 2006, and an overall two-term grade of “D.” Only four governors had worse scores, and 15 Democratic governors got higher grades!
Look, I get it- you detest McCain. But Huckabee is guilty of several of the same problems for which you lambaste McCain. I can’t see how any small government, strict-constructionist conservative can possibly ROOT for Huckabee, who’s nothing more than big government nanny-stater with a fish decal on his truck.
The Democrats want a secular big government; Huckabee wants a Christian big government. Those are nothing more than opposite sides of the same ugly coin.

Amen Press 7 for Celtic. Huckabee makes McCain look like Ron Paul.

I’m not a Huckabee supporter….
If you look over the threads you’ll find that I view Huckabee as a liberal and don’t think he can win.
But, McCain is the absolute worst candidate for President for the Republicans. It’s beyond mere disagreements on issues….McCain has actively campaigned against the conservative agenda for almost 10 years now. He should have switched parties a long time ago.
I’m only rooting for Huckabee because I want to see McCain have to fight til the end just like Hillary and then have both of the weak liberals duke it out.
Don’t confuse rooting for Huckabee with supporting Huckabee.
Thing is to remember too is that Huckabee supporters think he’s a conservative and that’s basically why they are supporting him (along with his religious affiliation). I think they are wrong but that’s how it has come to pass.

Hmmm… well, I get where you’re coming from Gceres, but I disagree with your opinion that McCain is worse than Huckabee. At least McCain is honest about policy disagreements. Huckabee thinks he’s some holier-than-thou big government prophet sent to remedy the sinful ways of the GOP. In that sense, he’s FAR scarier than McCain.
Whether you’re supporting him or just “rooting” for him, more and more this is reminding me of that South Park episode where the town has to vote for either a Sh*t Sandwich or a Giant Douche. I’ll leave it up to you to decide which one’s which.

Well I think that the South Park analogy is right now! So I guess I’m not rooting for Huckabee either…I’m just enjoying two liberals rip one another part….and I’ll enjoy the same in the General Election which I’m dubbing Democratic Primary Round 2.
One other point is that I think the GOP is currently suffering as a whole from battered wife syndrome. McCain has been the batterer for 10+ years and like that abused wife, the party is making him the nominee.
That’s the main difference between Huckabee and McCain…Huckabee is loony and a liberal, but at least he hasn’t been battering the conservatives in the party for 10+ years!
