My God. I thought this was a joke when I first saw it. Unless this is home made he needs to ask for a full refund plus interest.

I am having a 1988 flashback of Joe Biden and a British Parliamentarian.

FredHeads Carrying On The Fight

Monday, February 18th, 2008

This is cool:

A few weeks ago, Fred Thompson exited the race for President. In the wake of that decision, the FredHeads and the members of DraftFredThompson.com engaged in a whole lot of soul-searching and vigorous discussion as to what to do next. Fred’s candidacy may have come to an end, but our faith in the principles that originally drew us to Fred was as strong as ever.

The product of that soul-searching and vigorous discussion is Conservatives for the Advancement of the Reagan Coalition, a new organization formed to advance the key conservative principles articulated by men like Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan and Fred Thompson.

Of course, there are plenty of places on the ‘net to discuss Reaganite principles. While we’ll certainly continue to do that, we will at the same time be moving forward with our plan to pound the pavement and raise the funds to ELECT candidates who share our principles and DEFEAT candidates who don’t. If you share our faith in those principles, and have an interest in working to get them put into practice, we invite you to JOIN US.

I think this new “Reagan Coalition” could do some great things considering that the same group of likeminded patriots pushed for and convinced Sen. Fred Thompson to enter the Presidential race.  This group of activist and outspoken citizens could even partner with the recently formed “Reagan21” coalition, a bicameral group of legislators in Congress who have similar goals of limited government and economic freedom.

With grassroots-generated and legislator-generated groups such as these vetting future candidates, as well as established institutional stalwarts such as the Club For Growth and others (like the National Taxpayers Union), we could have some very powerful tools at our disposal to recreate conservative (or classical liberal) government from the bottom up.  These kinds of groups are great in pooling the thoughts and resources of many into solid actions that can be intensely focused on particular candidates and causes with money and support.

I would like to see groups such as these, partnered with their respective conservative counterparts in each chamber (the Republican Study Committee in the House, which has done yeoman’s work in advancing conservative budget alternatives and other rock-solid legislation, and the Republican Steering Committee in the Senate, headed by the “Conservative Voice in the Senate,” Sen. Jim DeMint) become an outspoken coalition whose stamp of approval is heavily influential in Republican primary races and general election races, as well as keeping legislators’ feet to the fire once in office.

Jon Elrod for IN-7, March 11th Special Election

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Democrat Andre Carson and Republican Jon Elrod were featured speakers at their respective events, which drew about 1,000 of each party’s faithful. Democrats gathered at the State Fairgrounds, Republicans at the Wayne Township fire training facility.

While Republicans marveled at how far they had come since last year, signs of intraparty strife were visible at the Democratic event.

A year ago, Elrod said, Republicans had a brand new party chairman and no candidate for mayor to take on incumbent Bart Peterson. Despite predictions that Democrats might win 20 seats on the City-County Council, Republicans took control, and Greg Ballard scored a major upset.

“From those inauspicious beginnings, we had a revolution,” Elrod said.

Elrod faces Carson in a March 11 special election to complete the remainder of the term of Julia Carson, Andre’s grandmother, who died in December.

The Indianapolis Star

We have a great chance of picking up this Congressional seat from the Democrats. Jon Elrod has proven to be capable of winning in Democratic districts as he won a seat on the Center Township Advisory Board and on to a State House seat in heavily Democratic areas. The GOP has come close in the past few races for the Seventh Congressional District of picking off the late Julia Carson and with it now being an open seat coming off of a huge Republican wave in Indianapolis this past November and a young, well known challenger, we might finally grab the brass ring on this one.
