Buckley was a great man who stood for true Goldwater conservatism that made the Republican Party the success that it was under Reagan and the Class of 94. This is a sad loss for everyone.

I remember watching my first firing line debate as a teenager and being entranced by Buckley’s wit, intellegence, and all-consuming grasp of issues. I started reading National Review at about the same time and have ever since. Though his direct influence on me and his indirect influence on so many candidates and public figures, he more than anyone else made me a conservative- a proud one.

    Rest in peace, old friend.
