    Enjoy:

    http://dkosopedia.com/wiki/Examples_of_Republican_hypocrisy_on_moral_values

Just a few to start with:

Ken Calvert, Congressman (R-Ca), champion of the Christian Coalition and its “family values.” Sued as an alimony deadbeat by his ex-wife. Said “We can’t forgive what occurred between the President and Lewinsky.” In 1993 he was caught by police receiving oral sex from a prostitute and attempted to flee the scene.

Richard A. Dasen Sr., Republican benefactor of conservative Christian groups, convicted of sexual abuse of children, promotion of prostitution and several counts of solicitation, enough to add up to a sentence of 126 years in prison. Investigators estimated that he spent up to $5,000,000 on prostitutes

Ted Haggart, pastor of a 3,000-member church, who preached often against homosexuality, spoke with President Bush frequently, and was held up as a pillar of “family values.” Turns out he had a sexual relationship with a male prostitute, who he also paid for meth-amphetamines.

Robert Bauman, Republican congressman and anti-gay activist from Maryland, was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old boy he picked up at a gay bar.

Peter Dibble, Republican legislator from Connecticut pleaded no contest to having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old girl.

Tim Hutchinson, divorced his wife of 29 years to marry a congressional aide he was having an affair with.

    and my favorite:

Bernard Kerik, had two simultaneous adulterous affairs.

Im sure I could find some cute campaign videos…

Roger, do you think any of that is news to us? What does any of that have to do with Elliot Spitzer? Absolutely nothing. You’re trying to turn this into some partisan clap trap, but it’s not. We constantly criticize Republicans on this site for their bad behavior. I wrote a post calling for David Vitter’s resignation after he showed up on the DC Madam’s client list.

If we were the kind of blog that constantly defended Republican wrong doing then you’re response would have merit, but we aren’t. We are exactly the opposite, calling for accountability, so your comment in this thread is completely out of place. It would appear to me you are just attacking the messenger to deflect your embarrassment of what has happened to a rising star in your party.

    Roger,

No one here is defending them. Plus if you want to convince anyone I don’t think quoting from Daily Kos will be a very effective tactic. LoL.

The ironic thing is that in order to be a hypocrite you have to hold up moral values in the first place, thus, these Dems can’t be hypocrites b/c they never held up values in the first place.

I want to come at this from another angle and get your opinions on what I’m about to say.

Why is what Spitzer did considered illegal? It’s certainly abhorrent, disgusting, and a horrible betrayal of his family. But why are the private actions of two consenting adults any business of the government?

If no money had been transferred and Spitzer and this hooker just got some boogie-woogie for free, it would have been completely legal. So why did it matter if money changed hands?

Now, I’m not saying we should allow him to stay in office. Prostitution IS illegal and he himself prosecuted people for the same offense. You can’t remain in office after doing something that was not only illegal, but monumentally stupid.

But I am curious as to how many of you think that laws against prostitution are an over-reach of government power.

The Republican party is always trying to play the morality card… always. This board ignores it when a Republican fails to meet up to the standards… except with the toe tapper…

Press: Let’s start with the public health issue. A prostitute can easily transmit a disease to hundreds of men in one week. HUNDREDS. Secondly, they avoid paying taxes. An over-reach over government? Geesh. Pot heads say that about drug laws.

“The Republican party is always trying to play the morality card…”

Trust me, if this is the only “card” the Republican party “always plays,” it’s better than the 5,000+ cards the Democrats use every election with identity politics. You know what I mean, the woman card, the race card, the gay card, et cetera.

    “This board ignores it….”

Either you are of the belief that if you say something often enough it will become true, or you can’t read. There can be no other reason for going down that ridiculous road if one actually paid attention to what this blog says, and who it supports and doesn’t support.

    Alright Roger, how’s this?

Disease: Nothing is stopping diseases from being spread through legal sex, either. Take a look at this headline from earlier today: “1 in 4 Teen Girls has Sexual Disease”.
    http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8VBB9D00&show_article=1
Legalizing prostitution would impose regulations like mandatory health screenings on the industry.

Taxes: You’re kidding, right? They don’t pay taxes because it’s illegal. If you make it legal, then they have to pay taxes, brainiac. Then we can tax the hell out of it.

Anyone have opinions on this who isn’t an idiot?

Also, Roger, it is not physically possible to have sex with hundreds of people in one week. One advantage of actual sex education instead of abstinence based education is that you would know something like that.

Press 7 for Celtic, ironically adultery is illegal in most states, but few if anyone is ever convicted of it. In legal terms, not mine, marriage is a contract between a man and a woman.

As for Roger your are the epitome of the unhinged left.

David, If you think a prostitute can not have sex with over 100 people in a week, then you live in a bubble. Im sorry, do you not consider a blowjob sex?

Langley, what do you expect? Some of your members HATE gays and call them evil and retarded, your party is seen as Cold War era, wanting to return women back to barefoot and pregnant, and keep minorities poor by removing social programs, so why do you think the democrats use the message of acceptance? Your party is seen as rich old white conservative men who don’t like anyone! If you or the rest of the people here can’t handle that, then that is your problem, but that is the truth.

Press 7, many ILLEGAL immigrants pay taxes, I wonder how they do it. Al Capone genius, Al Capone. Mandatory health testing? Aren’t you for smaller government?

“Some of your members HATE gays and call them evil and retarded.”

Um, what? Who? Who in the mainstream Republican party, what politician, what groups of people do you see espousing these views? Who even in the “movement conservative” wing (aka SaveTheGOPers and people like us) of the party, who you might consider to be more “extreme” or whatever, espouses these views? What in the world are you talking about?

“your party is seen as Cold War era…”

You mean by yourself? I suppose so. Last time I checked we weren’t advocating Mutually Assured Destruction and whatnot, but hey, if you want to ignore historical facts and just throw out semantic phrases about the Cold War, be my guest.

“…wanting to return women back to barefoot and pregnant…”

I don’t even know where to start with this statement! It doesn’t even make sense. I mean, maybe this offends you, but my mother was pregnant 4 times with myself and my siblings. I’m pretty sure that there were those times in her pregnant life when she was barefoot around the house. I didn’t know it was such a crime though, I’ll make sure not to let my future wife do such a thing, thanks for the tip. LOL.

“… and keep minorities poor by removing social programs…”

No, we want to empower everyone to have the freedom to use their abilities to do what makes them happy and thrive in our country. People wouldn’t be “kept poor” by removing social programs, in fact they would likely be better off without dependence on the government.

“Your party is seen as rich old white conservative men…”

Again, maybe this is your view. Millions of people who aren’t “rich old white men” who support the Republican/conservative cause would beg to differ.

“… and who don’t like anyone!”

Be careful with projection, it is a powerful force and can reveal a lot more about the accuser than the accused sometimes.

So apparently Roger thinks that the only way minorities can overcome poverty is through government social programs and not though their own efforts.

Sounds like a racist statement to me.

I wouldn’t go that far (you could call it the “soft bigotry of low expectations” though), but at the least it shows that Roger doesn’t have very much faith in the individual minority and just sees them on a macro scale of people who can’t help themselves.

As I explained to a liberal California friend of mine a few months ago when we were debating government assistance to poor people, it all boils down to the fact that conservatives generally have more faith in the individual than liberals.
