I agree completely with your choice of convention speakers.

What do you think of excluding/and or including Romney and Huckabee as convention speakers? I think including them would be a distraction as the media would talk about how they are positioning for 2012.

    Huckabee is likable!

Of course–anyone you bring to speak would be considered positioning themselves for 2012.

But Huckabee is still a good pick, regardless of his politics, his sense of humor and general nature is digestible to the entire nation.

I know that I may throw this term around a little too much, but if “religious nutjob” applies to anyone, it’s Huckabee… I agree that the man is funny, but we blue-staters do not find him “digestible”. Admittedly, if there ever is a time to not care at all what liberals think, it’s in choosing the speakers for the Republican convention…

As an conservative, David, I’d have to agree with you about ol’ Huckleberry. I got tired of Huckabee’s I’m-above-politics-but-slyly-acting-holier-than-thou schtick really quickly durning the primaries. He tries to come aross as a good ole’ Southern boy, but he’s actually pretty liberal and has no problem with government solutions to anything. Oddly enough the fact that he’s pretty liberal isn’t what bothers me the most, it’s his whole slick demeanor reminiscent of Bill Clinton that turns me way off. The guy can’t talk about an issue without wrapping it into a sermon-like soliloquy and bobbing and weaving around his own record.

Keep this guy as far from the White House as possible.
