McCain Decries Anti-Obama Ad

Written by Sam on April 24th, 2008

I really don’t know why McCain felt the need to comment on this ad run by the North Carolina GOP. It wasn’t created for his benefit and has nothing to do with him at all. It’s aimed at helping the Republican gubernatorial candidates. Barack Obama is an extreme radical leftist and the two Democrats running for governor have endorsed him. Therefore, it’s fair to say they approve of his extreme radical leftist views. I don’t see the problem here.

The problem is McCain isn’t much of a conservative to begin with so these ads hit a little close to home.

I think we are seeing the McCain strategy unfold. He will appear to be taking the high road while the party hacks do the hatchet jobs for him. Clever to say the least especially with the nasty tone of the Democratic race.

This has nothing to do with John McCain’s “conservatism.” This is merely an instance of good cop v. bad cop.

McCain had to rebuke the NCGOP to preserve his “maverick” image. So its either criticize the NCGOP or lose the election, since it will all basically come down to whether McCain retains his image.

The problem is, McCain actually does have a personal problem with the ad. If you don’t think he is being honest when he says so just look at his record. The guy rarely minces words.

Had he not denounced the ad, nobody outside North Carolina would have seen it. But because he did, he has increased exposure by hundreds, he has defused the race card Obama will play over and over again, and he comes out as taking the high road. McCain wins all the way around.
