McCain Offers $300 Million for New Auto Battery
Written by Sam on June 23rd, 2008PHOENIX (AP) — John McCain hopes to solve the country’s energy crisis with cold hard cash.
The presumed Republican nominee is proposing a $300 million government prize to whoever can develop an automobile battery that far surpasses existing technology. The bounty would equate to $1 for every man, woman and child in the country, “a small price to pay for helping to break the back of our oil dependency,” McCain said in remarks prepared for delivery Monday at Fresno State University in California.
Anyone catch the error in this article? It’s the second sentence. The author wrote that McCain was offering a $300 million prize in government money to whoever develops this battery. The problem is that the government has no money. What he is offering is $300 million of OUR money, yours and mine.

Nothing moves the American entrepreneur faster, or more efficiently then cold hard cash. The 300 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what we will eventually save on oil consumption, the jobs that will be generated by the technology, and the taxes generated by those jobs. What’s 300 million compared to what the big spenders in Washington lay ouy for pork each year?

i agree, 300 million isnt that much when you compare it to the vast amounts of money wasted on foreign oil.
if we could not only produce something here in America, but also power it, with McCains great ideas for energy, that would be amazing!
haha, and no matter how you look at it, you either pay with your taxes that you lose anyway, or you can hemorrhage billions more to other countries.
