Obama NASCAR Rumors False

Written by Sam on July 12th, 2008

Rumors were abounding Friday, initially reported by Sports Illustrated, that Barack Obama would be sponsoring driver Ken Schrader in an upcoming NASCAR race in Pennsylvania in early August.  The Obama campaign has squashed that rumor as being just that, a rumor, and not true.

I think this would have made Obama look really silly.  We already know what Obama thinks of your average NASCAR attendee, a bible beater clinging to God and guns.  I think this could have been his Dukakis in the tank moment.

The funny thing is, even though this turned out to be a rumor, I didn’t do a double-take when I heard this “news.” The Obama campaign is so ridiculous, and the candidate is so full of himself, that news of him sponsoring a NASCAR driver didn’t seem out of bounds to me.

I’ve scheduled a blog post on this very topic: If I were driving the Obama car, I would wreck it on the first lap.

Langley, You think the Obama campaign is “so ridiculous”? I’m feeling pretty certain that he is going to kick our asses come November.

I fear this whole thing is about their taking their campaign to OUR base. My brother–in-law lived in Macon, GA and has 50+ male neighbors who voted 2ce for Bush voting for Obama. Macon is not Athen, GA it is blue collar.

Jim, you may be correct. You may not be. Regardless of whether McCain or Obama win, the country has some bad times ahead of it. Things are going to get worse than they are today. The American people won’t be the winners of this election.
