Stone Wins Primary in GA12
Written by Benaiah on July 16th, 2008John Stone has picked up the GOP nomination in District 12 from Georgia. As noted earlier Stone was the most viable candidate. I still doubt he can unseat incumbent John Barrow. Time will tell. State and National GOP support is soft at best.
Also of note Senator Chambliss will have to wait a little while longer before he knows his opponent in the general. Jim Martin and Vernon Jones will face off again in a run-off. Not that it matters.

I think Barrow will keep the seat. He’s a pretty conservative Democrat so it’s not like he’s completely out of touch with the district.
Saxby will wipe the floor with whoever the Democratic nominee is. I hope Jones gets the nod, purely for the comedy it would provide to the campaign.

Also of note yesterday was Rep. Paul Broun’s hide-tanning beatdown of his primary opponent, a social conservative military veteran and State Representative.
Broun won this seat in a rather surprising upset after Charlie Norwood died, and since then he’s been a strong advocate for small government and individual liberty. He’s almost the epitome of everything we’re trying to turn the GOP into. Obviously then, the local establishment Republican hacks can’t stand him.
Shows how out-of-touch they are- Broun got 71% of the vote!

71% was huge. The Chambliss campaign dreams of a Jones candidacy.
