Wow. I can’t think of any words that would describe Senator Bunning’s remarks with as much praise as they merit.
Thank you, Senator Bunning. Let’s hope there’s more where that came from… and more from other senators, too.

That you think it was Bunning who “smacked down” Paulson says quite a lot. For a smart guy like Paulson to sit through 10 minutes of this horseshit from a room temperature-IQ troglodyte like Bunning must be maddening.
The obvious point is that the cost to Americans of a “bailout” pales in comparison to the costs if there’s a meltdown of the financial sector. Whether this is true or not, I don’t know, but the point is a subtlety that was obviously lost on Mr. Bunning. His line of idiotic and completely uninformative bullying is more suitable for a third grader than for a US senator. But, I guess this is the intellectual level of “questioning” that we can expect when we elect someone to the Senate whose main accomplishment is being able to hit a ball with a stick.
